Amazing accas here in err Paris, I might end up stealing some of your guys thunder 😆.

Just kidding, this was expected on the ECM, everything on the continent looks to be going to plan now so I don't think it'll bust for you lot.

Part two incoming.

For the evening, the UKV shows a few stragglers as the low makes its way across the south, too. I'd love to have one final nighttime lightning photography chance this year.

i might have a good vantage point from weymouth later once i get down there as down there working.

Just to add,...the radar has the showers further WSW at 13:00 than the UKV so this would be good news for more parts of the SE to be in the action.

Overly pedantic perhaps, but remember that the times shown on models are UTC, so whilst we're still in BST, you have to add an hour to the model frames 🙂

Just look at those storms over Jersey! Blowing up! Wonder if they can sustain that level of lightning by the time they get here at about four?

19c widely in sunny southern skies.

Feels really warm and humid!

20c on the cards again today.

Towers going up over the channel.

Nearly November....

Decided to take the gamble. Currently just north of Cambridge and about to head in the direction of London then Essex or possibly Kent.

Very odd question but what are the chances in Paris later would you say because I want a photo of lightning in front of some Disney ride lol?

Also if you can, can you recommend me some high level thunderstorm reading (online document would be helpful as I don't have much money),  I find pHD thesis' easier to understand than the supposedly easier stuff for some reason.

RMETS.ONLINELIBRARY.WILEY.COM

This isn't quite thunderstorms but in similar realms. I read it last year and it was good!

Quite clear to see the direction of travel on all of these French storms. Basically, the further away from the low pressure centre (currently west of Brest), they are, the more easterly the travel:

We're at the best time of year for storms to survive the crossing too, with SSTs well above average that will also help.

Hoofed it down here for over an hour, I couldn't even get back from the barn to the house so amused myself chiselling off the last remaining lumps of sheep poo cardboard from the ex-sheep pen and managed to off load the last trailer full of muck. No thunder but some boobies floating past on the back edge.

I don't want to jinx it but that sounds like a very good decision x

We  had some absolutely torrential rain in the early hours here and a few rumbles of thunder. Storms look good to the South again although it looks like W country will be a bit too far west this time 😄

Decent for late October to be honest!
