Not looking like anything making it up here, I'm planning on being outside later, do I need to change my plans?

What is it about the Poole/Bournmouth/Portsmouth/Southampton areas that seem to attract such severe storms this year? Looks nuts on the radar..😄

I'm somewhere between Chelmsford and Southend-on-Sea and have no idea what to do. The Eastern part of the activity is dying away and all the action is further west again. I wish I understood more about meteorology 🤦‍♂️

Edit: Apart from a Kent clipper that i will never catch

The new 'Kent clipper' area I think, after years of that it is now areas around IoW that the best storms hone in on!

Though, they do often seem to split around Southampton! But can't really complain we've had some good shows this year.

Disappointing here. It split on approach. Yes I had some epic rain, wind and crazy scud blowing in all directions, but Bournemouth looks to have had it 10x better

Oh dear,if it's any consolation,...there is a line of showers developing rapidly from S London to Winchester, maybe you can get on those?

Edit:they are storms now 🙂

Hmph. I've watched Bognor webcam and saw a few flashes and a wet breeze. So much for packing up the garden expecting an Iowa Derecho...  🤪   Still, better prepared than not!

Enjoy! Even Reigate might see a flash of lightning.

A shame it's not dark, would have been a decent display looking toward IOW

We have some low rumbling over the water now, still at a distance.

The band is collapsing as it heads across the Sussex coast

Great expectations dashed on this occasion.

Well that was pretty spectacular.

One of the strikes I heard a click with the flash I don't know if it was is a actual effect, or imagined.

Extreme amounts of rain too.

Distant thunder heard.

Got quite windy for a time with some streaked lightning. Has calmed down now.
