A significant Eastward movement with the showers now, pushing further and further inland and becoming more organised.

Heavy snow symbols showing for here from 20:00 right through to midnight and then at times during the early hours, with 80 to 90% chance of ppn. Nice to see.

I must say convection seems a little on the weak side so far.

Totally agree. Need bigger cells

Ground is really wet in ormskirk now at work, whatever has been falling has been melting for now - could be that ice becomes the main wintry hazard down here in the morning, interesting to see how it will play out.

The cells out to sea earlier where I guess 20,000 ft they seem to have shrunk since 😂

Showers seem to be losing a little of their intensity as the move inland but it's early doors yet, some more organised bands may form into the night.  Hopefully they become quite widespread to affect more areas later.

Interesting day in the marginals--3c at 10pm last night, -1.9 at 6.00am. thick fog. cleared briefly this afternoon , little sprinkle of snow, 0c at 4,00pm. Now moderate snow with some interest upstream. better than mild and wet!

A wintry feeling day today freezing fog to start but some pleasant winter sunshine. On the edge of the current Congleton/ Macclesfield shower here in Sandbach currently so some light snow falling. Had a heavier all be it more sleety flurry mid afternoon. Still hopeful for some heavier showers giving a dusting- a covering to S Cheshire overnight - main action not due till post 7pm into the early hours🤞❄️

I've noticed the lack of any kind of wind at all today, the air has been so still, even just now, catching the edge of the snow shower that just skirted south of Macc, no wind, not even a breeze.

Interesting how the mild weather keeps getting pushed back (if GFS is to be believed). A few days back it was supposed to turn milder from Thursday, now it's next Tuesday.

Just had a few flakes of snow from the edge of a small rogue shower that looked at the Bowland Fells and said, you ain’t stopping me, East Lancashire needs this😂

I just hope it’s got some bigger mates who’ve looked and thought, if little wimp can get through, we can🤞
