Same here. City centre will always get less because of the heat island. Suburbs will be fine.

And that's exactly what the warning implies yet people are in a panic

I think some are overreacting in here, we won’t really know how far north the system is for a while yet we’re just all second guessing including the MET. No model agrees with the other and it was only this morning things looked amazing for our region. Let’s wait until the 12zs roll then we’ll get a firmer grip on things, but still won’t know for sure.

As with these situations everytime, it'll be a nowcasting thing. Look at todays system, much further north. I'll take a 5CM at low level Cheshire though to coat everything.

Latest WRF has corrected a smidgen South. 0°C isotherm now on a line Rochdale > Ribble estuary.

North of this all snow. South of this depends on distance from the line. North of Liverpool/Manchester snow turning to snow/graupel/ice pellets mix, sleet high ground. South of Liverpool/Manchester snow turn to ice pellets low ground, rain/sleet high ground. should turn back to snow everywhere on Friday morning.

Do think it will correct a bit more south again with the 0°C isotherm being somewhere around  Chester in the end.

Not sure what to make of that MetO update other than they appear to be keeping all bases covered such as to not to be left with egg on their faces. Still all to play for I think, we're all still in the raffle!

Was wondering if anyone could explain something  for me, something Ive noticed before. The weather system Thursday and Friday appears to move SW to NE but is showing easterly, north easterly winds. Its like the weather system is moving against the wind direction Presumably, because the winds aren't south-westerly it gives us the chance of some good snow as well

Not liking the met office warning map, coastal strip of cumbria is out of it suggesting high chance of a rain shadow here again🙄🙄🙄.

The radar is deceptive this morning. Been under returns on the radar on and off this morning, but it has been dry. Got a friend near Stoke who has said it has also been dry there despite being under more intense returns this morning. Ppn evaporating before it reaches the ground in the cold, dry air.

Wind goes anti-clockwise around low pressure so if you are north of low centre wind will be from the east if you are west of the centre from the north etc. Generally surface wind will always be 90° to the left of direction of fronts.

Yeah, seems to be some more intense echoes developing N of Stoke now.

Just started to snow lightly now 😋 with the visibility slowly beginning to drop. So it begins.

Should probably be glad the precip isn’t reaching the ground. It’s 4.0C. Would just soak everywhere

I was just thinking it feels a bit too warm here to snow??? Is the temperature supposed to fall through the day?

We’re already double what the Met have progged for the maxima with offshore winds. Doesn’t bode well really. Temps are supposed to drop. I guess they will do naturally when heavier PPN moves over us during the day via evaporative cooling. Air is very dry too for the moment. It’ll get messier as the drier air is mixed out later.
