Still snowing and temp now dropping below freezing

Good to know, have you a covering if so how much? Still not really sticking to much here annoyingly, and temps stuck around 1 degree. One of those times I wish I was 200m up wouldn't be as marginal, but there is plenty of time yet I guess for a covering.

Think my snow walk fix will have to wait until the morning, I'm fortunate don't have to walk too far from here to reach 300-400m quite easily.

youve stolen my snow as the band went north of here leaving just a few heavy showers

We always seem to do well in these scenarios last one I can remember was the 2010 fall where band after band just kept hitting us we ended up with 2ft+ of snow my car was buried for a Week.

Won't be anywhere near that due to the time of year and warmth In the ground at this level but a few mile up the road above 300m could be looking at 40-50cm I would say.

Yes because it's an easterly rather than a southeasterly so not as much resistance from the Pennines. Still temps are higher than March 2013 now so it's still enough to raise temps enough to stop accumulation until early hours :).

Remember the failed Feb 2005 easterly frontal snow event? Basically it’s a slight foehn effect and this is similar.

We had the precipitation in Manchester but too warm for snow, but that was worse than this, Feb 2005 was just rain once the convective showers had stopped. At least we have had falling snow this time.

It’s a killer, that’s for sure!

Matt Taylor on R4 7am weather forecast said there would be “precious little” for Mncr, Merseyside and Lancashire, away from Pennine areas.  Obviously we have had falling snow, but he was absolutely spot on.  Sadly!

I can even see the snow in “Pennine Lancashire”, it’s 2miles away and 100m higher.  Kinda makes it even worse being so close!

Still, I never loose hope and will hope to wake to a good covering tomorrow morning.

Yes the 200m mark at present is the point where marginality disappears.. as often the case, but hopefully that will pull down to 100m before too long!

Wet here. I’d probably say 250m

Couple of cm's is all, over all surfaces and now being blown around. The hill's will be plastered but have not been able to see them since 10:30

It was a very clear line at 250m here before it went dark.  (I’m 150m though….)

Decided to get a take away and a nice bottle of red, I didn't get my hopes up being where I am but reflecting on 2010 and can't believe it was 13 years ago since I seen a proper snowfall.

Only the northwest could get 2 days of snow and have nothing to show for it, looks like you guys with altitude are doing well, I may go stand on a chair out side

Ok good. There was a short clearance around 4.30pm and I could see Wetherlam plastered, but tomorrow morning will be all together different - significant snowy wonderland I think.

50m higher and there’s been no marginality here since late afternoon.

It’s certainly not heavy but it’s all snow and it’s turned into a decent attempt at a full on blizzard.

Was driving through bigrigg before and noticed it was heavier there than egremont, that 50m makes a big difference

Mind you... high parts of Oldham and it's a different world...according to

Another amber weather alert covers parts of the north west, including Oldham, Tameside and Rochdale

Grains Bar & Top of Ripponden Road looking dicey and quite a few road closures into Saddleworth.

Promising given how close you are to the coast, assume it must be heavier your way.

Warm layer at 925mb for areas below 200masl. Funnily enough it can be the same temp over in Sheffield but because there's no warm layer it's snow.

Disagree with that. It’s been snowing here for over an hour now, 60m
