An unseasonably wild night out windy with heavy blustery showery rain ☔💨 not nice at all. Hopefully something much more Springlike by early next week late teens weather maybe even our first chance of 20c if we are very lucky 👀 ☀️

Just to add - A peak gust of 53mph close to 8pm was recorded in Buxton this evening and it's currently gusting up to 40mph. Similar consistent windspeeds are expected day & night until at least mid-afternoon on Friday.

Yes very windy here touching gale force for past few hours. With driving rain. More like late Autumn with temp now at 5c

Beats the sound of wheelie bins making a break for it.  I'll no doubt encounter a few strays walking to work at 6.40 in the morning.  Recycling day tomorrow.

Really starting to get wild out there now, some of these gusts must be nudging 60mph, very fine horizontal drizzle spraying, unless it’s sea spray but I’m a few miles inland so it’s travelling pretty far

Getting up now had to go out and throw some blocks on PIR boards before they become air traffic 😂

A day that deteriorated quite significantly as it went on. The morning was sunnier than I expected and stayed dry, a promising start, lunchtime stayed bright but cloud encroached by early afternoon, by about 4pm the rain arrived and the rest of the day a write off, heavy rain, gusty wind and cold. Current temp 6.8 degrees. Feels more akin to a winter evening than an April one.

Tomorrow could well bring snow to moderate levels and temps will remain supressed.

The wind just went crazy for about 20 minutes, really violent gusts and what felt like ice pellets .I’ve just moved my car as it was next to a tree with it’s trunk visibly shaking.I looked on the radar expecting to see a squall line !

Winds seem to calm from about midnight last night, occasional gusts rather than a continual roar.  Seems calm still for the moment, clear skies above, cloud out North and East, a chilly 3°C.  Did Northern areas at altitude get a flurry?  Tops of Blencathra look white.

Damage in Whitehaven from last nights wind. It really was ferocious for a while and it seems it was a narrow band of strong wind as people in Workington and Cockermouth only a few miles further north didn’t experience anything like we had.

All the high fells have a good covering. Even Wolf Crag on the Old Coach Road has a covering. Sleet falling here during heavier rain showers. Current temp 2.9c

Mostly light rain beginning to fall here at 210m (688ft) but there are a few snowflakes mixed in with the PPN, higher elevations locally will be having better luck in seeing snowfall over the next couple of hours.

Jeez what a vile day, jumper back on, wooly hat outside & winter coat. Thankfully after tomorrow there is a slow improvement.
