Sunny here now and nothing really approaching either at the moment but plenty going on to the north.

Wasn’t expecting this but we’ve had a good 20 minutes of heavy rain and nearly constant thunder from the cell that developed close to Newark. It’s moving slowly away now and the thunder is getting less frequent too. I only saw a handful of forked lightning strikes though. An unexpectedly good start to the storm season for here.

I'm calling it. I think the storm over Basingstoke is a supercell. The anvil on it is massive (if that's what I'm seeing from Croydon)

Seen a bit of that today but I think it is just inflow scud? Is it actually rotating?

Had a short sharp storm with very loud thunder about an hour ago. Been rumbling and looking like this to our North ever since!

Size isn't everything! Size does not make it a supercell, although there have been some apparent right turning cells in the Midlands, and the Basingstoke cell could be doing that now too.
