Looks like the squall to the West is struggling to produce lightning and is starting to look more like thundery rain than active cells, cold front has probs undercut it.

Distinct lack of height on the storms,  the cells near Hull and Newcastle seem to be the only ones that are growing with height.

Anyone got some observed soundings, would be very interested to see the dewpoint and instability values.

Yep, I saw the top of the cell that's over the North York Moors when sferics began around Castleford. It had a cauliflower top, and wasn't making any effort to flatten into an anvil.

Never thought I’d hear myself saying a storm was crap but it was 😂

Looking on the radar, Whitby looks to be right in the firing line

Wasn’t really prepared for the speed at which these cells are moving. Had no time record much at work, just lots of thunder and dark cloud bases

That's why i didn't go and chase them😳

Weird radar presentation, looks almost like 2 cells clumped together rather than a supercell but it does look like its trying to hook, hopefully  someones infront.

Now raining over by me, small cell developed overhead.

I was in front. The sky turned dark but nothing too dramatic. Heavy rain for a while but not a lot of thundery activity. The next cell in line passed to the south of me.

One rogue cell went up to the west of Lincoln but it has subsided and didn't become electrified.  Most of the lightning activity is currently in NE England and the east of Ireland.

Yup I think we might be just a little too far south for the fun and games!

Not feeling too optimistic for here today. But hey who knows

Remnants of it moving into derby now, not much to write home about.

Well anything of interest is well north east of here, heard some rumbles as a storm trundled along towards York. Another disappointing convective day, and the wait for a storm goes on.

Only chances now is for the odd cell to pop up to the south or for the squall to get its act together soon

Well I'm calling it a day now. I've been optimistic enough.  Sickening that those storms matured literally just a few miles from me but off the coast.  Couldn't have chased them even if I'd wanted to.

Some beasts in there although moved really quick by the looks of things.  Air is nice and fresh outside now.
