Everything missed here in Dec '22, March was good though 8th/9th

Same here - nothing in December 2022, but a decent snowfall on 9th March.

Best spell of winter weather for quite some years. Only downside was there was only one snowfall, but it lasted all week.

Stunning day today. Got as hot as 30C but the humidity wasn't as high as it has been all week so really quite pleasant to sit out in. Currently 29C so will be interesting to see how far the temp drops overnight. No sign of the thunderstorm we had warnings about. BBQ planned for tomorrow, which will probably be the last of the year (actually only managed one so far this year!)

Has it been as many as that? Pretty sure there were only a few in meteorological summer.

I think it was 6 in June, 1 in July and (likely to be) 7 this month.

*I was thinking of summer as to mean the whole of the "warm" part of 2023 🙂

There were only 2 at Heathrow in June.

Uncertainty regarding how hot tomorrow will be.

Arome

hits 31c, perhaps 32c but the hottest areas get hit by a large thunderstorm during the middle of the afternoon. Other storms further west too.

The arpege also brings cloud into the areas most likely to see the highest temperatures, eastern parts of East Anglia look fine and sunny, but with a slight onshore breeze from the south east. I guess at the end of the day the potential for 33/34c is there, but obviously dependent on sunshine amounts.

I’ve really enjoyed this week and am sad it’s about to end. It’s just been a perfect start to September. You could nitpick at high cloud at times but for a realistic English heatwave you couldn’t ask for any better really. I think it reached 30C here but I don’t know for sure.

An outstanding period of weather!

Sunshine was lacking yesterday and the day before, but not too bad.

The busses going through town were packed with people heading to Swanage and other places.

30.8°C to add to that list, which is the warmest day of the year.

Mowed the lawn & cleaned up around the garden. Dahlia's still flowering and looking good.

This evening definitely feels the warmest of this spell to me. The air feels tropical almost.

Just went an ordered a nice Jalfrezi to cool me down

Without doubt the worst Saturday i've had this summer, so uncomfortable indoors, humidity is vile. Beer garden opposite me has been nearly empty all day, on a saturday with lower temps it would have been full.

That’s so weird and I’m not doubting your experience but I drove over to my mums earlier and all the pubs I passed - the beer gardens were heaving 🤷‍♂️

Saffron Walden was full of people dining al fresco outside when we were there during the morning/early afternoon. Seems like perfect conditions for it  due to it being sunny and calm.

The temperature reached 32c in the end here, the hottest day of the year.

Sitting in my Mum’s garden this evening and the late summer perennials all looking outstanding, loads of bees, hoverflies and spiders, just saw a hornet massacre a spider though. Bats coming out now. Lovely

Lots around here, my Mum’s garden backs onto a lovely old church and graveyard so quite atmospheric. I’ve seen some rather large bats 🦇 in Czechia lately

Today was unbearably hot and humid, and im glad we are nearing the end of it, and being delighted to some thundershowers. I am really appreciating what August came out with, as it was mostly usable and not too hot. I hope we see another August redux to end September

We get loads of them here. Always a sign that summer is upon us when you start seeing them flying around.

They’re very cool creatures - however, rabies is nightmare fuel!
