Model runs so far this morning actually prolong next weekend’s unseasonable warmth into the start of next week.

It's a very warm air mass, Spain hit 38 yesterday, ridiculous even for them, it was an October record

On the one hand, I’m very much enjoying the warm, sunny weather. Temperatures are perfect during the day. And nights are cool for sleeping.
On the other hand, it’s a bit strange/concerning.
Will enjoy it while it lasts, though.

Indeed. UKV has 19°C 850hpa temperatures already over England on Friday.

Yep mental, although only a forecast, looking south, that seems very achievable.

Although Autumn can never really be Summer as we lose the long days.....this year really has tried its best to make up for the dreadful July and August. An exceptional September followed by a really good start to October. It'll end at some point, but at this point I'm just drinking it in. The prospect of 25c next weekend, wearing shorts and a BBQ or a trip to the coast fills me with joy. 😎

Although it’s been mild here recently (like most other locations), it’s also been drab, dull, damp & grey which has kinda offset it all.  With the exception of tomorrow, most of the working week ahead looks to be similar too;

I am hoping that the weekend will herald something brighter and sunnier IMBY otherwise it’s all a bit meh personally.  I would rather 10c & sunny than 20c & dull/damp.

Worth noting that whether folk “wish” for a particular weather or not, it has no bearing on what the weather actually does.  The weather will do what the weather wants to do, regardless!

True of course,  but I certainly don't wish for it.  Wonder how much the hunga tonga eruption is having an effect on all these temperature records being broken across the planet lately? That combined with climate change and El nino .Parts of Australia having a record start to Oct aswell I see.

So, we've gone from the models suggesting it's either extreme (for the time of year) heat next week OR a cold snap to the models now generally agreeing we're getting a blast of heat followed by what looks like the fastest turn around ever with the cold snap coming almost right afterwards.

If that doesnt highlight the utter uncertainty and flip flopping weather caused by Global Warming, I'm not sure what will!

Don't confuse my enthusiasm for extremes with a want for/lack of care with regards to people's suffering 😁

This cloud really needs to bugger off north! Yet another Brexit satellite image - this time with bonus heavy drizzle.

We are lucky down here again. Must be annoying for those who've been under this cloud for days so far, the front should finally clear south soon, as a cold fron, so air behind should, in theory at any rate, be clearer.

Over 3.5c above average for the SE, also above average everywhere, sunnier than average too for many parts.

Here are the actuals for the month too:

Only 33% of normal rainfall for the month down here. No surprise. Looking at the actualls, 25mm or less. That's very low.

London had an average daily maxima of 24.4c for September. Not sure what the record is, but it can't be far off. That is warmer than July should be.

There'll be tears from some over the 'scary' red colours 😁

Has it yet been confirmed if September 2023 was the warmest on record?

I'm more concerned in the short term at any rate, by the dark brown rainfall figures.

I think it’s the record by over 2C.

Shows how wet my location's climate is. It's rained continuously for days and come out drier than average.

Joint record with 2006 for the UK national series beginning in 1884 for mean temp.

Joint record with 1895 for mean max.

Second warmest for mean min, behind 2006.

Shows how light the rain may have been, also I didn't expect we were that much dryer than others, in the actuals less than 25mm, did not expect that.

Autumn's are normally very wet up here. Far wetter than where I was born and grew up, in London. My least favourite season because it rains here so much. Partly explains my enthusiasm for the upcoming warmth.

Could we see a 20c day in November? Who knows with the way things have been of late.

We did in 2015.
