In Cornwall, rain started about 1700. Very heavy, deluge. Wind picked up about an hour afterwards. In Falmouth at 1900 torrential rain, some roads had alot of standing water and the wind on SE facing coast (where I was), was buffeting. In the past half hour the rain has ceased and wind massively dropped off, rather calm in comparison to a couple of hours ago.

Incredible what the atmosphere can do, and it does look incredible when the view is from space. A shame they bring such destruction on the surface.

I tell you what, fair play to whatever model the GBHD is with it's lightning forecast atm. Good because it's got me under stuff at 3am.

Already gusting Force 10 in my area. This is very surprising as it was not expected to be this strong so early, a bit worrying for later I feel.

And to give me the lie it just dropped to F9 must have been a big gust!

Pressure reading on my weather station is 971mb and it had dropped from 978mb in a short space of time . I can hear the gusts of wind blowing the rain against the windows .

Stay safe everyone please .

from what ive seen, a lot of rain can lubricate the ancient faults under the uk, so we could have a small one or two in the next few weeks

Also very low atmospheric pressure less weight on the earth

On some models, there appears to be a small initial area of highish winds for Dorset/IOW/S Hampshire/Sussex in the next few hours that could gust 60mph plus. Although wasn't due to reach Chichester for a couple of hours yet!

Yeah same here in South Devon, wind has dropped considerably. Still plenty of rain around though, some thunderstorms pushing in from the south west too.
