Unfortunately, I won't be hosting this tournament anymore. If someone else wants to continue it or hold future seasons in my stead then they are free to do so. Thank you everyone for playing, but I must go now.

JULY 2019 WINS!

A very close match, July 2019 just prevailed thanks largely to its then record high maximum. To show how close it was, had that maximum been 0.3C cooler and July 2006 scored a second 36C day, it would have been sudden death. That could have been interesting, would July 2019 have struggled if taken outside East Anglia?🤔  But July 2006 really gave it a go and has ended as the strongest of what what we might consider the "traditional" heatwaves- long-lasting and consistent ones as opposed to the shorter more intense ones like July 2019. Which has shown that although it perhaps isn't remembered as much as some of the record-breakers, it can still take them on! Congratulations @R Alto, July 2019 is the third hottest heatwave of all time; and congratulations @Row w, July 2006 is the fourth hottest!

I'm sorry Cryoraptor A303 that you've stepped down and thank you, Summer of 95, for taking over for the 3rd/4th place final. I can't say I understood much of the technical stuff, but I have enjoyed the trips down memory lane. I have happy memories of many of the heatwaves and am pleased that August 2003, July 2022, July 2019 and July 2006 are in the top four, and also that August 1947 appeared as a worthy rep of the 20th century, although hastening to add that I don't remember that far back! I know that some of us wanted to see 1976 appearing in the later rounds and, despite its early elimination, I will always retain many happy (and some not-so-happy) memories of that 'Summer of 76'. Thank you for organising the competition which I imagine is a first for Netweather, and best wishes for the future.
