That is certainly a surprise as there were reports of snow 100m lower than your elevation an hour or two ago just a few miles SE of you in the region. Just goes to prove how complex it all is when it comes to conditions required for snow to fall.

Early cloud cover has largely shifted and it's a glorious winter morning here, not a breath of wind, 2.3C. Perfect for going out for my run later.

We seem to be alternating between cloud and bright spells and not sure which is going to win out. At least it's dry and the last of the flooding in the dip of our local hot-spot has disappeared.

On Facebook this morning there was reports of some very fine grains of snow falling across the Hope Valley & Buxton areas, just cloudy here although there's been enough cloud rolling off the North Sea to have kept temperatures above freezing overnight.

SE England/ EA look good for a few sleet & snow showers tomorrow. Wouldn’t be surprised if there isn’t the odd wintry flurry over the Peaks/ Pennines & Far East of the region though. 06z goes all GFS at the end of the run from bitter to Atlantic blowtorch - hints at  a battleground between cold air to the north & Atlantic air to the SW perhaps around the 20th Jan. Like I say let’s get the cold in and see where we go from there.

Feeling quite bitter outside with a hard frost and fog

A stunning day so far here in the Lake District, why couldn't we have such a day in the christmas holidays!.. 

A hard frost this morning, lingering in shelter, current temp 2.0 degrees, not expecting much of a climb now. Another sharp air frost this eve.

Fells are pitch clear, just a bit of small bubbling of cloud amount. 

Feels like winter again.

Expect wall to wall coverage if it snows in London tomorrow then  although North Kent, the North downs looks most favoured. It'll be these short notice small features that crop up that will deliver localised snowfall  pre any pushback into the cold from the W/SW I think. NW England can do well from both short notice and battleground setups it will just be a watching, waiting game.

I remember the 2018 'BFTE' being somewhat of a slow-burn affair for us this side of the Pennines, snow-showers were few and far between but the ones that did make it across the hills had lying snow slowly accumulating over the ice-days that we had. It wasn't until the Atlantic influence made inroads that the higher snowfall totals began and (from memory) that Polar Low is what sealed the deal in causing the disruption towards the end of that SSW.

-1.5 in the marginals this morning. Nice white frost. Cloud sheet slid over from  from the East mid morning. Now a raw +1.0

Back from a lovely fresh walk through Parkgate, sausage, chips & curry followed by ice cream . Many people had the same idea.

As for the latest output, still looks decent in my book
