Its all gone a bit damp. Squeeky bum time. Precipitation is still white but not very convincing.

Like most snowfalls of the last 10 years - by lunchtime/ early afternoon, it's more or less all disappeared........

Drizzle here turning slush on roads but still coverings on paths and grass

Gritters are spreading on the back road . 

They wouldn't normally do that if it was going to rain.

Hi i am Backtrack's little boy who is very interested in the weather i have went outside across the field and the snow was really deep we went with our two husky dogs

i hope it snows before it gets mild so i can go out on the snow

Slush/ice fest later probably… but may get some more this evening as everything slides se and temps drop… could be really cold tonight…

Still got impressive covering in Blackrod. Can see Horwich just over the M61. Also looks like still got full cover. Temp is saying 1c

yeh - temps are going to drop like a stone.  Will be awful out there.

Little thaw here in Chorley. Actually it haven't snowed/rained since 1pm. I am hoping it will keep it up.

Temperature has just reached 0C now.

Regarding tonight's prospects, then it's all down to when we lose the westerly feed, models indicate approximately midnight we lose it and winds should be more northerly by then(give or take, the switch obviously will occur in more northern parts of the region first).

In terms precipitation then that is the biggest uncertainty although the trend would be things to turn drier as the night goes on but you just never know in these situations. I certainly wasn't expecting so little snowfall in the central belt(only going by the radar but seems like so far they have not seen much). If there is any PPN around as the winds switch then it does increases the chances of bringing the snow level down as winds should be slack as this occurs.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Largely sunny and cold on Thursday with scattered snow flurries, these perhaps heavy and frequent later. Sunny spells and less cold on Friday, then wet, windy and milder on Saturday.
