Alpine-like scenes here despite the heavy rain yesterday evening. Below freezing since midnight. Minimum temperature of -9.7c at 08:55. Current temp -9.5c and sunny blue skies. Fresh (unfrozen) bird food and water put out for birds and red squirrels. Don't forget to keep checking on water as it will soon freeze.

Crystal clear blue skies and a sharp frost at -7 here. Its a shame we couldn’t keep the snow cover, it would’ve been a perfect winter’s day.

Maybe a little dusting tomorrow night before we say goodbye to this current cold spell.

February looking very interesting I must say.

All snow cover has gone here.  I give this cold snap 4/10.  Because snow isn't deep, it has a mild sector to ruin things, I've seen deeper snow back in 2010. Disappointing.

Roll on next month I guess, if not next Winter.

Frozen in here. Steep drive frozen as we had no grit yesterday so we are all grounded unless the sun gets to work!

I remember in 2010(or thereabouts) when we had a good three or four week spell when the temp during the night fell regularly to minus ten and didn’t rise above minus seven during the day and I remember travelling to York one day when the temp stating in Liverpool was 2 degrees and by the time we reached York had fallen to minus 8 and that was during the day . I think people have short memories especially the media when they are talking about ‘exceptional’ cold

Blue sky, sun and snow cover and icy this morning.  Min overnight minus 3.8C.   Barn owl having a tummy toasting warm up at 9am after working all night in the cold.

Very impressive snow showers on the radar for northern Scotland, Orkney islands. Been a while since the Irish Sea has produced very heavy echoes like that in a snow event.

I'm going to see this cold spell through to Fri and then have a little break from it all, pretty tiring this model chasing lol. Back on it towards the end of the month as this Winter certainly does not look over by any stretch, as @cheshire snow has mentioned Feb and in to March look interesting.

Some models still going for a few more flurries/showers in the next 24/48 hours, so one to keep an eye on before the dross of wind & rain returns for a time.

Cumbria the cold pole, alpine scenes, widely won't get above freezing, many are still below -3 or -4 degrees, currently -2.5 degrees here. A fantastic winter walking day for anyone prepared. Memories of Jan 2010 and Dec 2010..

Temperature has fallen further hit -5.0°C

I wonder how cold will it go tonight?

Possibly -8C at the lowest. Touch and go on whether we get below -10C at Manchester, places like Shap and north of Burnley have a good chance. Was hoping the snowfall didn't melt from yesterday,

The temperature this morning only started to dip when the fog cleared, was 0C at 6am. Currently -2C..

We're looking at a 60% chance of a batch of light to moderate snow showers tomorrow night only lasting an hour so 1cm in a few places.

Definitely going to an ice day here, I put the mop bucket out in the garden with hot water in this morning at 7am and its just about froze over. I defrosted the car at 10 ready for going to work at 1 and it needs done again 🤣

Case of radar watching and nowcasting, might be a few surprises as always the case in showery set ups.

The NW have really done well out of this, we had the snow, and now we have the sun.  The south have had none of either 😄  Today they have all the cloud from the thing they could have had.

very hard to take that.

Couldn't live there tbh. Only interesting weather they get more of is thunderstorms and they can wait years to see a snowflake never mind a covering. They can keep their stifling heat too. Onto the local weather and it's a cold day for sure with temps barely above zero and some snow cover remains here, very icy underfoot though nearly slipped earlier.
