My current thoughts are for an area of messy convective cells with sporadic lightning developing around the Pennines drifting west and south west through the evening. As Sea breeze dies could be a chance of them making it west of M6 corridor by sunset. Probably a case of daughter cell outflow creation.

Large convective rain drops… seems to have developed overhead/just north of here… well that’s put an end to gardening 🧑‍🌾 for a bit… washing in too…

Tipping it down.

No thunder.

Just finished tea and cake in the garden and dodged the developing shower.

Had Worse yeah I'm currently at crown point retail park and it looks very dark to the east. Just started raining here too but light at the moment looks like that cell is expanding west.

Some patches of blue sky here now with freshening little breeze from north.   No rain so far.  But large curly top clouds over Pennines looking east from here.  Finger like towers growing fast. No anvils visible yet.

Taking advantage of the quietest day of the weekend and sitting outside the local pub. There is gentle breeze blowing from west to east and it's clearly blowing a clearance in here from the west. I'm guessing any convergence is east of here into West Yorkshire. Looking north it's easy to spot the shower tops over North Yorkshire and the Dales.

A sunny afternoon here after a cloudier period around lunchtime, currently 16.4C.

The showers that have developed elsewhere don't seem to be moving anywhere fast, some people probably getting quite a soaking.

Looking at the radar there’s plenty of rain within a couple of miles to my east and southeast but dry and sunny here.

just done a bit of painting on the decking hand rail in the hope that it stays that way and off to the pub for a few beers, with the only question being whether they’ll be drunk outside or inside.

for the moment at least, outside is winning hands down🤞

PennineMark  That's what I was referring to earlier. You are just on the boundary

Chris.R Quite literally on the boundary right now. Sunny to the west, dark to the east. Looking at the radar though, it's getting organised to my east and outdoor drinking won't last too much longer.

I suspect cells that drift westward into the dead zone will quickly die but the dead zone will contract Westwood slowly through the evening.

Scuba steve Yes, rain arrived an hour or so ago, now we have a downpour, dark skies and a mass of convective activity to our east and north east, could be quite a deluge next hour or two.

Stopped dry here all day but we were lucky with heavy rain just a few miles away through the afternoon.

We sat outside the pub for a couple of hours at teatime and even out of the sun it was pleasant enough, although when it’s took until 6th May to get to the first comfy outside day, it not the best of efforts.

Had a moderate shower with some big convective blobs just before 5pm.  A cracking setting sun, lit up the room bright orange.

Just heavy rain.

Lightning seemed to get to within a few miles of Holmfirth but I didn't hear any rumbles.

No thunder here, but wasn't expecting anything. Not a drop of rain either. It was a nice afternoon, temp reached 16.6C.

Can’t believe how we’ve managed a dry day here but surrounded by rain.

Just thankful that it wasn’t snow on the menu or I’d have been tearing my hair out out but after such a poor forecast leading up to it, the BHW has been pretty decent here.
