Beating us 45mph. Local forecast says we should be hitting between 50 and 62mph. At least the rain has stopped.

52mph just now. 10 minute average of 34mph. Got the "Hold onto your hat" message on the Davis.

Just been for a walk along Sewerby cliff top, very windy, gusting close to 50mph I would guess, but sea is surprisingly calm as its an offshore gale

It sounds very gusty here but max so far is showing 35mph here. So not too bad but I'm sure it's annoying for anyone out in it today trying to get on!

I type    😊

Also visible in Bempton, missed them the other day, but I was in my shed this afternoon doing some woodwork, and I have a good view to the SW

Not great colours from south Yorkshire sadly but I can tick off seeing this super rare cloud now at least 🤩👍

I saw the clouds but they had faded by the time I got outside. A breezy old evening wind gusting to mid forties but much less than forecast.

Happy xmas to all the boys and girls on here.

As we head to one of the warmer Decembers on record and warmest year we've recorded you can't say the weather hasn't been interesting.

One little stat we've never recorded a cold winter once we've gone above 6C here. The best attempt was 71/72.

A quirk that will be broken at some point but at the moment I'm saying mild winter here we come.

Great charts this morning with the prospect of cold/snow being brought forward.

Looks like the Midlands/central southern England threads could be busiest at first with lows tracking further and further south bringing snow on the northern side.

Do we get greedy and hope these lows track 2/300 miles further north?? 😉 Or play the long game. For me I think get some good snow first then see what happens after ❄️😁

If this twitter post is true we have the best shot at severe cold since 2018 and timed perfectly for January!

If anything lets hope January is a little drier.. Third month in a row with 100mm plus of rain (currently 98mm but that will go up tomorrow..). Ground is completely sodden
