Think that initial trough moving west, is the condition change point, seems colder behind it. Will probably be more later as even colder air moves west

Yeah, plus I'm going to school now in Ashford which might have a better snow chance later.

I'm just north of Colchester, albeit I'm away with work anyway, but how unlucky is this, so far?!

Nothing here yet. Just hoping I can get out and see my patients safely and get home before it kicks in.

A few grains and small flakes have been falling here in Southend on/off for the last hour or so. Not enough to accumulate.

The grains are usually a sign that convection can't quite get going yet. But, it's having a go.

Those showers really packing in now.

Can I rename it a new type a hybrid- Mid Kent&NW Kent streamer as isnt it expected to be both evolving to the later later and looking at my updated Met app here by the Thames-

Sleeting here a few miles in land in Eythorne. Still no hope of it laying as its very wet on the ground. Fingers crossed for some colder conditions coming into play through the day. Good luck all.

Still dry down here on the E Sussex coast. Promising though; the radar is Barbie pink, AT is 3.1C, dewpoint 0.1C so when precipitation arrives it might well be flurries. Steady easterly at about 7mph, so a bit of a wind chill!

Not sure whether we just saw sleet or snow here in West Kent - it left the lightest of dustings on top of our car. It’s very dark and miserable out there….EDIT: more incoming now

Zilch in Gillingham this morning, woke up about 2am and 4am but nothing out there.

Looks like a classic SE centric event to me, some areas going to do well and 5 minutes up the road nothing at all.

Nmm model is the most optimistic on precipitation today and does indeed look close to the mark. Even this model however seems to be currently slightly underestimating .That is obviously presuming what is actually showing on the radar is falling from the sky.

Brace yourselves, I’m snowed in:

What’s not funny is that’s the most snow I’ve seen since 2021 🙃

Temp: 2.6c

DP: -0.2c

Look on the bright side, the longer we go without proper snow, as painful as that is, the better the averages turn in our favour for a white out!

I agree, some of us SE’ies are well overdue a proper blizzard. While some in Kent/SE overall did very well last couple of winter’s, there was nothing here.
I know today won’t be like that but, I’m hoping for a 1997(?) or 2010 style fall at some stage this winter. There was also a very good one early 80’s I can just about remember, maybe 1982. Some of that please weather gods ❄️

Don’t worry, it’s only a few flurries. Nothing to worry about

The first flakes of sleet landing on my fluffy blue Christmas dressing gown.

Had to check I wasn't in need of head and shoulders as it is falling out of semi blue sky 🤣

Zilch by the Thames here in NW Kent even when we were under the pinks on the radar but the Met app looks far more promising 10am onwards

Last winter I was in London for the day with the family when that big snow event took place. Came down so fast and settled, even in the city. All the way home to Colchester on the train we were going past white fields and could see thick snow flying past the window. Three excited kids, one excited adult.

Get to Colchester and nothing. Felt so unfair! I was proper grumpy. 🤣

I don't think it is going to be that bad for us in all honesty.

Just been on the school run and I can report about 17 grains of snow in and around Danbury. Traffic seems to be holding up at the moment. Stay safe out there.
