It has been pretty grey here most of the morning, even the radar has had us for light snow on a couple of occasions this morning but not had anything.

Temp is 0.3 here but it will be rain/sleet going off radar.

I notice Met Office has updated for today, now saying heavy snow changing to cloudy early evening and then a bit of light snow early hours.

Here's hoping.

There is a good dumping of snow in that system for somebody.

Probably the pennines will gobble it all up and then spit it back out as sleet for us !!

What time would we expect to see the system arriving if it did make it over.

Around dinner time or just after

Met saying rain for my location on the app. Would be very surprised if we ended up with a snow layer.

Yeah me too NES, doesn't seem to work for us coming in from the west.

Apps are showing sleet forecast here but TV forecasts this morning showed it as snow. Temp has just hit 1c and certainly still feels cold enough. Spose time will tell

The early December cold spell did have a small system move in from the west I think on the Friday which deposited a fair amount although I think it was more of a small trough rather than a shortwave like today's. There is slightly milder uppers associated with the shortwave but fingers crossed having it moving into really cold air we should be ok for the majority

I think one things for sure Consett will be gridlocked.

I'm only about a 6 or 7 mile drive to Stanley so not far to get a snow fix I suppose

The light snow has started, now bring on the main event, two or three hours of moderate snow, that's not too much to ask is it ?

Little dangly bit of the system over us currently, the main band is behind, which should be with you very soon.

It's actually beefing up a bit now.
