The most interesting thing around here so far is a bucket of water freezing tonight & it's thick enough to hold a brick comfortably 😂 -2°C at the mo.

Latest radar shows that streamers are setting up over the top of N  Ireland and thru towards the Isle of Man, then heading straight towards the central Midlands for a typical Cheshire gap streamer.

Temp now at -3.2c already and rapidly going lower.

Wil  we see these streamers reach the central  Midlands?

MIA

Also snow showers breaking out around Wales and particularly North Wales in the last 30 mins.

Sadly they are weakening and dissipating before making any real movement inland.

Not looking likely to get anything from these just yet.

The streamers are likely to weaken before strengthening early morning. Best chance between 2-8 by the looks of things.

Personally hoping the system heading into NW England is wider to provide something over the N mids but time will tell.

I believe it to be the remnants of the cold front which has become stationary over southern England having moved down from the north. The addition of humidity into the atmosphere from the south. although not enough for snowfall in its own right , may just be enough to trigger snowfall from the decaying front.  It is a type of streamer from the east as the winds swing around in front of the low passing to the south.

Only a couple of models show this feature, but it is possible,

Are those showers around Irish Sea and Cheshire gap intensifying and heading further inland? Hope so.

One thing is for sure, it's looking more promising than it was a couple days ago when it was looking bone dry, even if its just a few showers and light coverings.

I would say not good. The precipitationnwont make.it too far inland. Maybe a slight dusting for some limited lucky areas but nothing more than a hard frost could provide.

Hope it goes the other way mind!

Seriously the NW Radar is continuing to 'light up', with  recently more showers developing  off Belfast and moving towards our area.

The whole of the Irish sea is now showing precipitation (some rain) , and I think we will see some action, but not certain just yet. I think the backing of the winds before the trough moving across Northern England tomorrow seems to be the trigger.

Probably the north west midlands most likely, but changes are happening at short notice.

image.thumb.png.640a14e24d2171342301a7d830dc1dc5.png oh well it shows the precipitation just not the map....

We are good at imagining things thou  in the midlands.😃😁. We have to be!!!

The link should be better. Oh well that failed, so try a sceen copy instead.

image.thumb.png.e1e49cc6cef7f3f33f99c45534ddb0ea.png  Yeah that worked. and latest  image.thumb.png.9298c0f314e8b70edfc8312f480ec12b.png

Latest shows it moving south eastwards thru the gap, and with light snow breaking out more generally in N Ireland now.

As thought the bands of precipitation are dissipating before hitting our patch.

We will be very lucky to see anything from this I think.

Better off looking out the window in the AM.

Here in the Staffs Moorlands its a minus temp night with little frost highlighting thenlack of moisture out there.

I think a repeat of last night will happen. The showers will dissipate quickly before getting here but enough left to leave a very tiny dustings here and there.

Notable how there’s no frost tonight thanks to the cloud cover that’s left over from these showers. So the worst of both Worlds really.

But the sun should return tomorrow and we’ll have another beautiful crisp day, so there’s something to look forward to. Hopefully those in the north of our region can get something more out of this.

*Radar shows it’s snowing!*

*Runs excitedly to window!*

Not a flake to be seen.

Back to bed.
