Wasn't expecting it to be so frosty today. Was like an ice rink first thing and the frost hasn't lifted all day. Below freezing and feeling so much more seasonal than yesterday. Sadly tomorrow looks like a horror show

Sheet ice here at minus 3 hopeful but not entirely convinced we will the snow tomorrow but certainly cold enough now. As others have noted nice halo around the moon.

Trains bring cancelled across a Scotland tomorrow must be some storm coming.

Finally the rain and wind have stopped. Was starting to scrub up on carpentry and ark building skills.

Went for a walk at Kinghorn this evening, lovely clear crisp cold air, and a full moon.

Gorgeous day.

Sunny all day, thermometer read max of 3c but the overnight snow never melted on the ground.  Light wind making it a pleasure to be out and about.

Last full moon of the year...

Countryside looking lovely with the dusting of snow on it, shower activity visible over to the east over the North Sea...

2am and the wind is just beginning to get up, I ĺive in an old thick walled cottage, most of the time I cannot hear the wind see you in the morning, good luck.

A little windy with heavy sleet, looks like it's pretty close to being snow with the amount of ice  running down the window. 

Lots of now on some of the higher roads looking at the cams. M74 at beattock currently covered which is well south of the warning area although I guess will be expected to turn to rain soon.

Chucking it down again here after a brief, beautiful, sunny and frosty day yesterday. Took grown up son up to Loch Lubnaig for a quick walk and he's off home today to Devon by train, so hoping the storm doesn't cause him too many issues. We also caught the moon halo last night, it was huge.

Well, Gerrit has wall and truly arrived in the far south west. Constant heavy rain and wind. I'm having to drive home today for work tomorrow and not looking forward to it, have to go round small coastal A roads and then up the A77. Hope it dies down even a little later on!

Wind is pretty wild here in Pittenweem. I see Cairngorm was reporting a mean speed of 96mph gusting 113mph. Temperature -4c.

Way too dark to tell for certain but it sounds very rainlike rattling off the bedroom window in the strong wind. Local weather station said 2.4C around 6:30am but has dropped off to 1.6C currently. Doubt I'll be going anywhere today, the dog will have to content herself indoors. We'll see tomorrow if its stayed snow further up the hill.

1.9C and as I suspected heavy sleety rain driven on severe Gale mix in a lot of sheet ice it made for interesting trek to feed the animals. Pigs refused to come out understandably.

Lovely scenes for you guys in the North with some festive weather.

I started a new role in my job and I’m now based in the far far West (ie water is visible). I don’t think i’ve had one day since I started (early December) with winds below 30mph. Honestly been wild.

Yesterday was a rare cracker. Today, polar opposite. Nearly 20mm since this storm started here in Dumfries. Not sure i’ve ever seen the A75 between Annan in Dumfries more flooded.

You guys who cancelled your journeys South made a good call as, I presume, the usual river has formed on the M74 near Beattock and caused a crash. Southbound is shut (EDIT - Road now open again) Family member hit it on xmas day in a pickup and nearly lost it.

Weather - Biblical.

Temperature creeping down, now 1.2C, with wind strength going up. Now wet snow battering off the front windows of the house. If only it'd been a degree or two colder then this would have been a truely awesome blizzard.

Yes Gerrit is certainly packing a punch. Winds appear to be stronger than any of the other recently named storms and heavy rain. Also at 2C colder than forecast locally. As forecast snow on higher ground. Somewhere there in the pic is ths A93  at Glenshee.

Was thinking the same, only 1.3c here and it's lashing with rain.   Apparently flooding starting in the usual areas on the A944, though no intention of viewing in person if I can help it.  Not surprised, there will be a lot of runoff thanks to the combination of this torrential rain and melting snow cover.

Dog utterly refusing to go out but it's getting thrown out to do it's business outside rather than inside!

I've been watching the traffic cam at Drumochter this morning and notice something really odd. The time stamp changes quite frequently, but the image stays the same.
