What has characterised this storm, to me, is how widespread its effects are. Pretty much the whole country will feel its force, but clearly worst in the west and especially north-west.

It’s wild down here in Teignmouth.

Too much plane chatter in both local and this thread. I love watching the planes land and the impacts but let's face it, planes will be diverted all the way through this evening.

Fair point,regarding the plane chat.

Here is the aviation thread if we can keep discussion in there from now on.

from Scotrail "A train has struck a tree at Crosshill on the Cathcart Circle. There are no injuries, however the tree is stuck underneath the train."

and "A tree has fallen onto the railway near East Linton on the East Coast Main Line. Initial reports are that the overhead wires have been damaged. Our engineers are responding. More soon." Scotrail

Trains finished at 19:00 and plenty of info for scottish railways about delays for Monday morning whilst tracks are checked

Almost always happens in these sort of conditions and won't come as a surprise to anyone, but Woodhead Pass is closed to high-sided vehicles. For those not aware:

Quote

The A628 is a major road connecting Greater Manchester and South Yorkshire in northern England. It crosses the Pennine hills by way of Longdendale and the Woodhead Pass in the Peak District National Park. The road's altitude and exposure to bad weather create problems in winter and the road is sometimes closed due to snow or high winds.

I think flight disruption and YouTube streams of aircraft landing in storms are one of the major features of the modern day storm following, as evidenced by the tens of thousands watching the streams at any one time.

I think they are a relevant discussion point in a storm thread, although we should be careful not to overdo it.

Gusts definitely picking up now in West Oxon, becoming stronger and more frequent.

Must admit it is getting a bit overwhelming with all the plane reports. I’d much rather have local reports from on the ground, personally.

Ok. It's still very windy here👍😉

I think some of the weather apps are mildly delusional.

BBC Truro weather apparently wind speed 19mph.

Kernow Weather Team maximum gust speed from their weather station in Illogan 73.8mph.

Whut???

Part of my fence is down. Wind is really howling out there. We are exposed on a hill.

I think this can make a huge difference, some people reporting a lower wind speed, I'd imagine you may be tucked away and sheltered but could be roaring away tens of feet above.

Hundreds suffer power cuts
Electricity North West says it is starting to feel the impact of Storm Isha - more than 700 homes are without power, many in Cumbria.

The county has said it is already on alert to respond to a major incident. We'll keep you updated with how Isha is affecting the area.

Teams from BBC Cumbria, North East and Tees are running their own live page with more local information. You can access it here.
