One thing I’ve noticed after just having thought about weather quirks is when a month is known for notable weather the next year will often have the exact opposite weather. In chronological order off the top of my head:

July 2022 ☀️🥵🌵 - July 2023 🌧️

March 2022 ☀️😎March 2023 🌧️❄️

February 2022 🌧️💨 - February 2023 🌵😎

May 2020 ☀️😎🌵 - May 2021🌧️🥶

June 2018 ☀️🥵🌵 - June 2019 🌧️

February 2018 ❄️🥶 - February 2019 ☀️😎

July 2012 🌧️ - July 2013 ☀️🥵🌵

March 2012 ☀️😎🌵 - March 2013 ❄️🥶

April 2011☀️😎🌵 - April 2012 🌧️🥶

This doesn’t bode well for June and September 2024 😳

I've noticed this as well and I did wonder if this could help predict months in the following year. But the issue is there are too many examples of months which were quite similar in the following years, which has been the case more notably in autumn recently so imho it's not a useful way to predict what may happen based solely on the "opposite" quirk. If only it was like that though, would makes things a lot more interesting but balanced!

TheOgre Another notable one to add to your list is July 2006 (hottest on record), followed by July 2007 (wet and cool).

I would not call July 2022 to July 2023 as much of an example as Julys 2006 to 2007.  February 2022 to February 2023 is not a good example as Feb 2023 was not much cooler than Feb 2022.  March 2022 to March 2023 is a good example for rainfall but not significantly cooler for temperature.

Another good example is February 1990 (very mild) followed by February 1991 (cold with severe snowy spell in first half).

July 1988 (very cool and wet) followed by July 1989 (hot and dry).

April 1986 to April 1987 is another good example of the same month the opposite of its preceding partner.

Among the most notable of all examples on record that I can think of are August 1911 (hot and dry) to August 1912 (coolest and wettest on record), and January 1795 (coldest on record) to January 1796 (joint 2nd mildest on record).

Last summer was a complete bust here on the SouthEast coast. Any warm spells the country had, we were sat under a North Easterly airflow for. I remember being 7c cooler than inland during May.

Fingers crossed we get the opposite this summer!

Sometimes they come in sequences of three too, ie cold/warm/cold or warm/cold/warm

Probably the best example of this I know is March 2012/2013/2014, also

Going back a bit but there's January 1795 (coldest CET month ever) and January 1796 (joint second-warmest January in the CET record).

EDIT - just realised it's been mentioned, but it's worth mentioning twice so sod it!

Would April 06 - April 07 be one? April 06 I think was pretty chilly overall , I think more so the first half with some pretty harsh frosts about. April 07 was the warmest on record at that time.

Scratching my head with your choice of Jun 2016 and 2017

Both were warmer than average Junes and not much difference, rainfall wise

Looking at the CET and EWP

Foreshadowing at its finest. June 2024 was the coolest since 2015. And September is also looking quite chilly.
