How long before any month with a CET below 6C is described as a 'cold' month?

Some would describe that as a cold month now! 🥶

"GEFS continues favouring above average temps in early March. I suspect that after this winter some people will be questioning how useful the stratosphere and teleconnections are in medium to long range forecasting in the UK."

They are quite right in suspecting that  🙂

 NEVES SCREAMER

Spring has sprung earlier here mate, I have n't been counting, but for sure Feb-24 has had more shorts and Tee days than the combined July and Aug of 23.

Sunny day and no wind here yesterday , 8c at the front facing north and 18c at the back in my south facing sun trap,   the heat of the sun was weird for Feb , very warm , so much so I had a couple of hours of shorts only sun bathing ... that is a first for Feb .. ever

Stunning sunrise this morning with some mist, air frost again down to -1C.

Also mentioned this in the regional thread, but reflecting back on this winter, and well it may have not been great for snow and it's been excessively wet, one thing it hasn't lacked in, is the abundance of some amazing skies. Counted up around 25 vibrant sunrise / sunset afterglows this winter, which is not bad going for a very unsettled season!

Where is the wind warning for this storm??! It's mental out there. Branches down and fences down here! And yet no warning?!

*Stormforce~beka* warnings only go out for non-severe weather.

A few tall pots down here, and the garden sofa has relocated to the grass from the patio… More down to direction of wind than strength imby.

*Stormforce~beka* It's nae often I whinge about weather warnings, Beka, but, in this instance of easterly gales, I'll make an exception. . .

SunnyG Guess I'm the minority here, since I actually enjoy darker evenings. Something so comforting and peaceful about it, though the leccy bill says otherwise which ig is the only downside.

Frigid I'm absolutely with you Frigid, I don't mind the dark at all. I have reverse SAD, I think! Having said which, it is nice to see the changing daylight hours, but the very long days and lack of proper dark in the summer months seems to go on for ages...!
