Not long to go before we enter meteorogical winter so a good time to start the Winter Chat thread. In line with forum Guidelines please keep things friendly and respectful in here. 👍

Yeah as its a model forum discussion and we have a couple Scandis in here good to get a bit of model analysis like Norwegian shortwaves going elsewhere also, we get input from members that live in Portugal and Alps and south of France etc so why not for there 😀

It’s a fair comment to make though. I think people forget that the MET have private business interested supplying groups like railways and airlines. They have to be accurate. My dad works for the rail, I don’t believe snowfall till he tells me he has had the email at work.

Let us know when he does

To be completely honest he’s on retirement run down, he works from home nearly exclusively now. If I hear anything I’ll let you know. He did confirm the queen was dead about 45 minutes before the news announced it though

This is why you should never get excited for things to happen in the UK you literally need everything perfect for a cold/snowy scenario to happen one little wobble and it’s game over in this country unfortunately now cold winters are very few and far between

Run by run you will drive yourself batty

I'm probably in the minority here but unless there's snow or crisp sunshine, I can't stand the cold, so watching each run (I check every run without any breaks) is a sort of good laugh when they change all the time and throw up all sorts of chaos.

Nothing wrong with that. Magic of the weather. We all have our favourites, and from time to time we get to experience all of it!

Indeed. And to justify charging them a fee, they have to deliver something to them BEFORE they make it freely available to everyone else…

I’m not gonna make a predictions on December as a whole but it’s very interesting to see two cold starts to December in a row. Such a treat after the endless horror shows of Decembers between 2011 and 2021 for the most part. It would be quite notable if we managed to colder than average Decembers in a row. But I am not confident in that prediction at all yet! 🤣
