Small window of opportunity for some heavy showers with possible lightning this afternoon with very cold air aloft.

Looking towards the Snake Pass.

Big clouds with dark bases to my South and South West.

Just cold rain here, current temp 4.4 degrees, a colder day than most in February.

Suspect the fells are receiving a good dosing.

Weekend set rather cold, tomorrow wintry showers, Sunday cloudy and cold.

An unspringlike start to March, spring tends to take until the equinox to kick in fully, first half of March often has a winter-spring tug o' war feel..

Seems like it was a 400m+ affair today as I look east. Only the highest hills have any sort of covering. Below this nasty cold rain.

A foul start to meteorological Spring  this morning heavy cold rain but a better core of the day than expected with a brighter clearance,  even some brief spells of sunshine & the odd shower. Cold out of the sun & in the wind.

Snow line seems to be about 350m here today. Looks like a decent amount on Marsden Moor, very white.

Still a covering of snow on the grass and roofs up here from the two or three cm that fell from mid morning until mid afternoon.

not a bad effort in the end but it didn’t take long for the sun to break through and clear if off the drive before I got home.

saved me a job.

As expected here, a spell of heavy rain this morning, not even a hint of sleet. Like the last event, around a 1000 feet or more needed for proper falling and settling snow ot seems.

severe snowstorm Tomorrow looks yucky on the latest 12z GFS too down these parts - showery cold rain maybe a touch sleety at times 3-5c the max 🥶 At least we got a bit of brightness today however brief.

Joe Snow Yes, at least the band of rain was relatively narrow and the worst of it moved through this morning. Tomorrow definitely looking grim, not the best start to meteorological spring.

Will be interesting to see where the snowline is in the morning. There has been a good 8 hrs of snow on the tops today.. current temp 2.7 degrees. 400m is my reckoning. A snowy weekend on the fells.
