Wow, what a way for Spring to arrive. Properly gusty here, and heavy rain as the front rolled up. No sign of any snow, but will take a peak at Bosley Cloud later to see if that has any.

Despite the expected horrible cold rain start to the day, I think there will be one final chance to see some lowland snowfall before March is out.

Now we have blocking forming over Scandi and pretty cold air gradually moving around the back end of the bock, there is definitely a realistic opportunity this can make it to our shores in 7-10 days time.

I'm still invested for a few weeks yet.

Latest GFS at 192.

Could still result in something like this...

There is a light snow cover on the fells, roughly 500m plus.

Current temp 3.1 degrees. Expecting sleety rain here, if there was a more larger pulse of precipitation perhaps evaporative cooling would have kicked in, but alas a narrow band won't do the trick.

Overnight and into tomorrow might bring a few sleety snow showers.

Snow falling but not sticking here at this altitude (210m), Buxton and south into the Derbyshire Dales & Staffordshire Moorland roads are taking the higher snowfall accumulations.

In these set ups the rain radar is an excellent lesson in understanding the altitude of the UK, the colours act as a relief contour map. Greens and pinks denote the high ground. Currently green line 200m, pink line 300m.

My daughter's at 50m in Dublin and sent me a lovely snowy snap from her flat. The flow off the sea must be meeting the cold air from the north just right.

It was just heavy sleet here earlier, being blown along on the wind. Now stopped.
