Funnily enough I remember both days (20th March, 5th April); I was on work experience for 2 weeks in Mott McDonald's in Liverpool. And then on a school trip to BAe, in Broughton - I recall the snow on the latter day, and the larger workshops/ hangars were freezing.

117.8mm rain for March so far here, above average already. So every month last Sept onwards has been above average. Not forgetting the record wet July last year.💦

Scuba steve Blocks still there. Car Park is accessible. Another thing noticed a lot of flotsam on the road. Never noticed the flood gates on properties either. Must be quite eventful these Bay tides.

The Lake District escaped with a dry day today, very bright with some sunny spells, a definate taste of spring in the air, certainly put a step in my stride.

Dry and cloudy this morning.

Plenty of rain in the Irish sea though.

Overcast and dry here to start. The rain out in the Irish Sea doesn't look like the 'patchy' affair the met talk about.

Raining now lightly.   Plans for outdoor work scuppered again maybe?   Will  weather improve later ... or not.  For the last 6 months we've had this unsettled wet weather.    So difficult to plan anything.  Sure enough if an "indoor" day is arranged -- then the sun will come out.

It's non stop. Middle of next week looks like a bit atlantic low. I reckon Easter will be a washout. Fairly bright here, but spots of rain now. Nothing in the forecast at all yesterday, now quite a bit is heading from the NW.

Spitting again but not wetting seriously.  These folks seem uncertain about the weather forecast  and are still wearing winter clothes.

  • April 2024 - Was it that cold overall? A look at the statistics

General perception from many is that April was a cold month, but statistics would suggest otherwise, with the average temperature for the whole month coming in just above the 30 year average for the UK as a whole. A warm first half to to the month averaged out the cold second half. View the full blog here
