Now looks very black towards Cheshire and N Wales.

Was bucketing down here in Cheadle, has just cleared. Temp at the airport dropped from 8 to 3C, flippin' 'eck! It did look a bit sleety splattering on the window.

Might get some thunder in that band. There are a few recent lightning strikes to my South

A monumental cloud burst here around an hour ago, some sleet mixed in, left areas of standing water. Brighter skies again now.

Lightning on the West Pennine Moors recently. Just a bit too far away to hear from here.

 Had Worse

The lightning didn't track across to Ramsbottom.

Dark skies, heavy rain, hail and sleet here....the joys of Spring!!

Not a bad afternoon but it looks like I’ve been chased home up the valley by the mother of all showers and within 5 minutes it went from sunshine to thunder, hailstones and snow.

I was going out again but I think I’ll give it a miss.

A clap of thunder and wet snow here with the temperature down to 2.5c. Maybe not unusual for March, but unusual for it to come from the south. Must be some cold air aloft.

And as quick as it came, it went again but it left a covering on its way.

ooh some exciting convective action right now, very dark and a big hail shower, suddenly turning white, looks like snow... we've seen very little such activity all winter. There is cold air aloft today.

severe snowstorm on the school run and the temperature dropped dramatically with heavy rain and sleet all over though in about 15 minutes.just watched the forecast and it showed an area of snow over wales and southern parts of the region tomorrow morning. Not seen anything to indicate snow tomorrow so was quite a shock 😮

just looking at the forecast looks like a period of heavy snow over the hills

cheshire snow Yes, I must have seen the same forecast which looked interesting for tomorrow morning. I'm not sure that we're going to be affected by snow here in Crewe but areas around Chester and the hills around the city may certainly see a fall before it washes away with milder air taking its place. I shall peep through the net curtains with renewed interest tomorrow morning!.

Temp has dropped markedly last couple of hours, 3.9 degrees..As said there is a pool of cold polar air aloft and would not be surprised to see snow at quite low-modest levels overnight.

cheshire snow If it was over NW England it would be heavy rain with a bit of sleet thrown in, Buxton buried 😄😉 In all seriousness though Spring hasn’t really arrived this March despite us not seeing a March 2018/13 style winter chill start of April looking wet & on the chilly side too.

Very little, well no mention of snow potential at low levels on any forecasts this eve, yet, areas close to the coast in balmy Devon are getting some.. are the forecasters asleep, caught out big time.

I see the met has issued a snow warning for Wales, I think in past 10 minutes for 1am to 7am, what a nonsense, far too late for anyone to take notice, reminds me of the amber snow debacle here on 2 Dec when it was too late.

 damianslaw

it’s funny on the bbc pressure chart yesterday I noticed some snow on the graphics, but thought it was odd as the uppers weren’t that great, but there was no sight of it on the zoomed in forecast graphics.
