Weird...fairly placid...all of a sudden all hell let loose. Was there a sting jet or similar. The trees were really struggling bending this way and that. Can confirm sleet splodges too.On arrival big branch got snapped in the wind at home residents chainsawing and clearing it up.

Wouldn't have though so on a sting jet, as the showery outbreaks stretched from Norfolk to Cornwall. The showers were variable in intensity and as is common with heavy showers:

There is a particular type of wind that is generated by rainfall.

If a lot of heavy rain drops fall from a cloud, they drag the air down with it. This is deflected by the ground and flows as a wind outwards in all directions at ground level.

This sudden outflow is often felt a minute or so before the rain actually gets to you, so can give warning of an approaching shower in fairly still conditions.

Had a few showers here but mostly light as the heavier ones kept missing. Felt quite cold in the breeze.

Tomorrow is looking much more promising. Hopefully I can get a lawn cut done, as it looks awful now it's growing so quickly.

Just had a quick look..

Breezy, but low humidity with some good sunny spells. That should help dry out the grass and the washing.

Not a bad start to the day. I few dark clouds about but the sun is regularly poking through.

Probably the best day for some time, cloudy earlier but the sun came out around lunchtime and stayed out more or less all afternoon. Bit cool in the breeze but still better than anything we've had lately.

Probably the sunniest consecutive days since mid January! And at the weekend too!

Had a lovely day here. Low humidity, lots of sunshine, temp over 14°C.

Got the lawn cut, twice. Need to weed & feed in a week or so, then de-thatch, overseed, and top dress. Hopefully a bowling green by the Summer?! 😄

Guess the clouds arrived as the temperatures started rising again after dropping away earlier. That'll be the end of the nice weather then 😞

Surprisingly decent day with hazy sunny spells after rain cleared by 08.00! Breezy and fresh feeling which is a little odd on a SSE’ly.

Front currently out West, tomorrow it apparently shifts East and invigorates by breakfast time. Can it be further East than predicted to leave a similar day to this!?

Just put the bins out and heard the Little Owl. On closer inspection, I could see it against the darkening skyline. Got the OH out to watch and we saw it fly off, still calling. Beautiful. 🦉

Believe it has rained pretty much all day today in Kingsbridge - only slight variations in intensity🤣

Yesterday was lovely, today a shocker!

A bit of rain this morning but this afternoon was dry. Didn't see a lot of sun though so back to normal in that regard.

Much better start to the day than was forecast. Quite bright, with the rain not having even left the French coast yet.

Probably means it will drag on into the early evening though, when it does arrive. We'll see.
