Was watching it for the hour that it lasted here. Had extremely intense rainfall with it. Probably good 20 MM I’m thinking.

Just checked and that's another water butt filled last night. 2 out of 3 done in a week. 👌🏾

No luck here. Rainfall accumulation maps for the past 24 hours look wrong. It suggests 38 - 48mm fell here. Only 21mm on reality. It also shows Portland around 28mm, but over 40mm was recorded.

New toy arrived early! 🥳

Woke up at 4am...ironically by a man with a torch walking down the street! Frequent lightning for over 30 mins, then thunder followed.  Quietened down about 5.30 to resume again at 6am with an almighty bang. Seems a house in town was badly hit, tho fortunately no casualties

Thanks, yes was short but intense with some cg. Certainly is a bit drab this morning quite often after thunderstorms it’s misty murky weather isn’t it.

Morning All an overcast start to the day, can't say that the rain was intense or large in volume, as the graph shows it was neither.

Grey, light drizzle, 10c and little prospect of it changing for the rest of the day. Not good. At least the next few days look more promising even though still unsettled at times.

Horrible day. Looks like more rain to come overnight, so water butt no.3 has now been hooked up. Going for 3 out of 3 and I reckon I've cleared space for one more.

This country just honestly sucks man. Such a depressing existence. The weather is just the icing on the rotten cake.

We sit about like starving kids awaiting scraps for the odd dry, warm and sunny day from April to Sept, only to then have to endure mild, wet and cloudy crap from Oct to March.

I've never known my S.A.D to progress this far into the year. Even last year I don't recall it being this bad. Dire.

Hard to believe it’s May 2nd and been warm further North . At my son’s football training and it’s 8c, windy and drizzly. Winter coats and hats all round!

I think the solar and UV graph tell the story well for today:

Dorsetbred Makes it worse when you read that highest temperature in England, in a place Santon Downham, got up to 23.4. Best we could manage was 12c! A little brighter this evening but jolly cold outside.

Appears to be a weak convergence zone developing in a line running from London through to Gloucester and beyond.

Some chance of it getting interesting where I am, but in truth Bristol/Portishead is probably a bit too far South of the CZ line.

I know it’s been mentioned before but what is with the radar glitch near Winchester?

It never normally bothers me however very rarely that is the direction this morning’s rain is coming from!

Andy Bown It's the West Dean radar site Andy.  If you look on Google earth, there's a large copse of trees literally to the East of the site.

Which is exactly the direction of the dodgy returns...

It's been like it for years. Christ knows why they haven't popped along with a chainsaw, or even why it went so close in the first place. 🤦🏼‍♂️

@jtay I think chopping the radar unit down with a chainsaw is a bit excessive, but....if it means Andy gets to see where the rain comes from (in the odd occasion that it does) that direction, then OK.🤨
