MattStoke ha ha, go on, if this verified it really would be the sucker punch, wouldn't it. Nothing all winter (I know that you had some in Stoke mind), and then this...it really would make me laugh into my beer!

I may well have said it before, but that's one hell of a beautiful cat, @LeeKay/!

Really windy here tonight. Bins all over the place!

I remember Atlantic 252 yes, I heard about it, but was working nights and missed it. Just got the slush in the morning. I saw about 5mins of falling snow a few weeks ago, but other than that...nothing for two years. I miss it!!

Dancerwithwings Poorest winter for snow that I’ve seen here. More than most places but a long way below average. The early December snow event was though one of the best snowfalls I’ve seen here.

Beautiful drops of Vitamin D right now. Just wonder if we can manage a day without water falling from the sky😄

Well, after some dodgy looking stuff in the run-up etc...this weekend looks set for some of the best weather for a while? Reasonable sunshine, no rain...? Well that's the forecast, so let's see.

Yeah, it's okay today, remarkable for a holiday weekend! The Bewdley Duck Race is on Easter Monday, and fingers crossed it'll go ahead. The river is right on the edge of what would be considered safe for it, I think (because the ducks are picked up at the other end of the course by stewards in boats and canoes!) and I'm not sure it would happen if it were scheduled for today. The EA projection has the river falling a bit over the next couple of days, so fingers crossed.

April currently looks like being a horror show, so I'll pretend the models don't exist for now!

Really, really nice Spring day here today. What a pleasure. Not a completely sunny day (I don't expect that in late March), but no rain and got a good few outdoor jobs done. What a joy 'normal' seasonal weather can be...rare as it is these days! If it stays dry tomorrow, it'll be the first completely rain-free weekend that I can remember for a while. The ground is still sodden, mind.

Using the old British Rainfall definition of a wet spell ( 15 consecutive days each recording at least 1.0 mm of rain ) Saturday marked the end of a 21 day spell here, the longest since I began recording at this site in 1977 and 1 day short of a record 22 days from Sept 24th to Oct 15th 1976 at my previous site a few miles away.

Despite this being a fairly wet location wet spells are  quite rare. Quite often a long spell will be broken after 11 or 12 days by a day recording less than 1mm or no rain at all. I've recorded only 8 wet spells here since 1977 and two of those have been in the last 4 months.

Polar Maritime Yeah, it was nippy today wasn't it! Dull and grey too. It did stay dry at least, I managed to paint the garage doors and wash and polish the car, but not an especially nice day weather-wise. Looks like more rain on the way, too...

Bit of a rubbish Easter weather-wise, very dull (pretty much overcast all day) and only a top temperature of 11C. Despite tomorrow being showery, it should be sunnier, which is arguably better than a full day of miserable skies.

Another year where March recorded a lower highest temperature than February here. I do wonder if it's becoming common... since the mid 1980s In recent decades this seems to have happened in:

2023, 2019, 2008, 1996 and 1987.

We seem to be doing Saturday again here. In the gap between the rain bands in NW England/N Wales and the line of showers roughly along the M4, here it's sunny, calm and bordering on warm (13.6 °C, but the sun is quite powerful by now). As with Saturday, considerably better than last night's forecast! People sitting in beer gardens and along the river again. This won't do Bewdley any harm at all! 🙂

Sadly the charity duck race seems to have been cancelled this year - no argument really given the decision would have been made a couple of days ago when the river was very high and clearly too dangerous to proceed, but comms from the organisers were useless, non-existent in fact, so I encountered several disappointed young families in town.

Probably more to do with the EColi risk now endemic in our polluted waterways and beaches
