SunnyG  AWD yeh it seems like the rain is fizzling out across west London. Over here in NE London it's dry. Looking at the radar, looks like we may get a brief splash but it's disintegrating.

SunnyG Their rain and cloud level forecasts are pretty dire but temperature wise they're generally accurate.

Either way, I don't think any settled sunny and warm spell is on the near horizon, which is a shame. The current pattern is still so dominant.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if that 19c temp that was recorded in Jan (can't recall where) is the warmest temp we have for quite some time.

Last year we didn't record a 20c day until June 6th in London, which is incredibly rare. Hoping it's not the same this year

You mean May 7th? That was the first 20c degree day last year.

danm where did I see that someone posted June 6th. My bad.

In Absence of True Seasons Ironically, June 06th was the coolest day of the month over here with a high of only 17°C 😅. It was the only day where North Sea cloud lasted for much of the day this far west.

matt111 Yes. Best kept in X or whatever it’s called.

The weather is depressing enough without politics creeping in LOL.

I'm seeing a lot of "spring on hold" posts on Twitter but perhaps they don't realise that we're getting neither warm nor cold weather. It's all just very dismally wet and unimpressive.

Morning campers! How's everyone's head this morning?! Cloud here! BUT I'm being treated to bright cloud! So exciting!

raz.org.rain I would say that's "spring on hold" in my book! Aka eternal Autumn.

Days upon days of cloudy weather of 9-13c isn't "Spring". It's November in repeat.

For months now, it feels like the ensembles have teasing cold weather in FI and the MOD thread has been raving at times that wintry weather is coming.. but in the here and now, the cold weather never really materialises and we end up with average or above average temps (and lots of cloud and moisture too!).

Perhaps a sign of things to come for summer? Warmer than average conditions to persist? I hope so! ☀️

Stabilo19 I would say that's almost certainly where we're heading, which is why I'm either going for hot and wet or hot and dry. If this pattern does persist through summer too, I'd imagine it would be mixed with a lot of Iberian ridging and Azores highs. If winter has demonstrated anything, it's that we can have the best synoptics to our north for a cold and snowy polar influence, but it falls flat on its face due to a considerably stronger ibero-atlantic influence. Personally I'm expecting the Atlantic influence to wane as we get into the second half of April, so it'll likely be much more settled going through summer. I'd imagine that on the face of it, it'll be rated a "meh" summer due to the amount of rain, but we'll see record high minima and a record amount of tropical nights alongside horribly humid and hot overcast days. It wouldn't surprise me if we do actually see a record amount of +30°c but with almost all of them being overcast and humid, which isn't pleasant for anyone.

A dry, largely cloudy day here, but with a few sunny breaks this afternoon.

Stabilo19 It's been like that for twenty years, mate. 2009, 2010 and 2013 excepted! 😁

In the meantime, temps are set to rise, come the weekend.
