danm Ah but as it's Canada one might imagine the temps will be right back up in a few days, and wouldn't mind betting the coming months will be considerably sunnier in Edmonton than anywhere in north-west Europe.

I think I'd take end-of-April snow if it meant better summers.

cheeky_monkey Don't worry, I think we'll all be jealous when it's high teens, cloudy and damp here in July while it's 25-30C and sunny with you...

Summer8906 Not sure about that- they have much longer winters in Alberta than we do in the UK. Snow is quite possible in June in Edmonton.

Edmonton's summers are also cooler than London's on average.

Scorcher Mind you, I'd guess it would be 25C a few days later.

Put it this way, for me, far rather June 1975 (with its snow and sun) than June 2016 (with its damp drabness and unremarkable temps).

Summer8906 I think you're overestimating Edmonton's averages. Have a look at the climate data there. Similar to SE England between June and August but cooler either side of that.

Inland British Columbia is a different story- as are places further east like Toronto and Montreal.

*Stormforce~beka* Yes, odd the way the cloud stayed static all day and is now rapidly moving in.

Guessing that it was a westwards-moving warm front (keeping it away) and now it's become an eastwards-moving cold front?

danm I feel sorry for those in the South West and Wales today. Must be feeling very short-changed with it being so glorious (and warm) elsewhere.

Scorcher almost a stationary front down there, with steady rainfall all day.

stainesbloke In London? I think it was recently warm that month in London without ever being overly hot. Lots of southwesterly winds so humid air. The final weekend was much fresher though following a gale on the 28th.

Scorcher around the time of that map it was actually 16°C here, not the 14 shown, so it’s not been tooooo bad. Getting very dull now though.

Soooo once again we can't manage a full sunny day. The wait for a full day of sun continues ... Clouded over now

*Stormforce~beka* Next full day of sun January 1 2025, the first day of the sunniest January on record, making up for the gloom fest that was 2024. Placing bets on it now!

Lovely day here. Where might be the best place to catch some sun back end of the week / weekend?

Fancy a night or two away somewhere within a 150 mile or so radius...

MP-R I was thinking further west than you to be honest- looks like Devon and Cornwall have had a shocker.

MP-R yeah, same here; those temp maps are often inaccurate. And it's stayed dry.

Ironically, i was hoping it was going to chuck it down by now, as i did hold off the patio grouting due to forecast rain. Our metoffice short range forecasts have been dreadfully inaccurate for months now, on a near-daily basis.

MP-R  Bristawl Si zoomed in on the map for 3pm. Shows 14c west of Bristol and 15c east of Bristol. But it may be missing some sites.
