  1. The highest daily mean of 21.4c on the 21st really stands out. Bet that was recorded in 2006.
  2. I like December to be on the cold side but not very cold, dry, crisp and sunny. It adds to the festive atmosphere when doing Christmas shopping. A December 2010 would bring great problems if it were to occur around the Christmas period as it would cause traffic chaos. Plus lots of snow + people walking about + salt and grit just leads to a horrible dirty mush. Christmas day itself i wouldnt mind if it were 15c.
  3. I have loved 2014, apart from August. A most pleasant and comfortable year indeed.
  4. Some frost and snow around mid December would be nice. But what i really want is high pressure positioned in the right place to give bags of sunshine to compensate for those short days. I would like frosty mornings leading to daytime highs of 5-8c in light winds. That would be most pleasant. I absolutely hate raw cloudy easterlies so i would prefer a few northerly topplers to give my snowfall. Plenty of raging southwesterlies and balmy temperatures in the low teens too.
  5. What a pleasing forecast. Good to see September making up for Augusts failings.
  6. The GFS12z really wants to keep summer going with the fine and warm conditions persisting out to the 2nd week of September. The best of the warmth, as usual, will be for southern England with winds coming from an easterly direction for much of the upcoming 7-10 days. Upper temperatures ranging between 6c and 12c, temps peaking in the low to mid 20s on most days.
  7. 10c upper temperatures lurking off the south coast on the ECM mean at day 10.
  8. Hearing that news softens the blow of a cool August. Its not been a bad year so far for those who like warmth.
  9. Least it will still be warm though. Even when its cloudy it will still feel like Summers still here.
  10. We are entering Autumn, yes. But the weather does not have to agree all the time, just as March 2013 showed when winter carried on and on. If you study the ECM more closely it looks like a band of rain moving northwards at day 9 and then more settled conditions moving back up from the south.
  11. Much more reasonable night time temperatures tonight. And finally should break the 20c barrier tomorrow for the first time in ages.
  12. Suspect we will still see some decent warmth from these lovely looking charts. We are about a month past the warmest time of year so you can probably knock 2/3c of the kind of temperatures we saw in July 2013 from similar looking charts. Widespread mid 20s easily achievable looking at the ECM, GEM and GFS.
  13. Thank goodness June and July produced the goods this year though. I agree, the models looks really promising for the start of September.
  14. I want it to be nice enough to head up the coast to your part of the country before the nice weather is gone for good. Dont think im too demanding. Low 20s and sunny spells will do fine. Thats what its been the last 2 times ive been up in Scarborough this year.
  15. Pleased to see that September will resume the warm and sunny conditions that were sadly cut short back at the start of the month. Ive forgotten what a very warm day feels like its been so long. Days to the beach and shorts and tshirt weather will continue for a while longer.... if the models are correct.
  16. Astonishing stuff from the GFS 12z. Goodbye chilly northerlies, welcome back the 15c isotherm and summer heat!
  17. What a transformation we would see if the GFS 12z came true. Upper temps of between 10c and 14c for the start of next week producing temps in the mid to possibly high 20s.
  18. Increasingly summery from the ECM12z with the jet stream moving north allowing the Azores high to ridge northwards next weekend. At t+168 a cold front looks to be moving south but the track of the low to the northwest would suggest a bigger build of high pressure coming in behind for the final 3 frames of the run. We shall see.
  19. Normally means softer more comfortable air. The low humidity of the week just gone had brought air that has a real edge and a nip to it when out and about.
  20. Yes it allows more freedom to do what ever one wishes when its light. The darker nights are like a vice closing in ever tighter. Soon the window of doing stuff outdoors will close in the late Afternoon and one will be restricted to the house from getting home from work till going to bed. But tbh that seems rather fitting for winter as the weather aint that conducive for spending time outdoors anyway.
  21. Its daytime warmth that matters to most people so the prospect of temperatures recovering by day is most appealing.
  22. The first week of September would be lovely and warm if the 6z verified. Lots of continental heat wafting up. 15c isotherm into northern England bringing the possibility of 30c.
  23. Two consecutive GFS runs bringing something drier and warmer for the end of next week. This would bring a late taste of warmth and a fitting end to a decent summer.
  24. Summer hasnt left our shores just yet. After the vile week just gone it could even be described at warm next week with temperatures back into the low 20s. The often unsettled conditions wont really bother me, i just want a rise in temperature and humidity.
