  1. Well to me it looks like a classic cold front scenario with a very pronounced squall line Arpege shows it well
  2. Could be some torrential rain along that front on Friday Not too sure about any convective element though
  3. It really does look like coastal NW England is going to get a pummelling from that storm. Expanding northwards too.
  4. Looks like parts of Lancashire are in for a hammering shortly. I think that cell will be it but it does look impressive. Decent hail core by the look of it
  5. LOL I've had a few calendar years without thunder. Such long gaps between storms. Last one here- September last year. Just have to lump it I suppose don't we.
  6. Feels bad. Another no show here. Too far N&W for last night's offering and looking too far S&E for that lot forecast to hit Lancashire etc. Stuck in the middle in Crewe!
  7. Forecast I saw on BBC said mid-north Wales through N Midlands into Southern Northern England
  8. Yes, after all that and still no storm here. The east wasn't even initially meant to be the focal point for storms. Every single time!
  9. My attention has been drawn to early Friday. Active cold front looks to swing in from the west and at the moment looks potentially more severe than anything we'll see over the next 24 hours. Could be some damaging wind gusts and locally severe weather within that.
  10. There is nothing to trigger storms away from this. The next 'trigger' is the cold front later tomorrow which could see storms forming ahead- though these are likely to be fairly isolated and surface based (but potentially more severe).
  11. Pretty sure I've seen pretty much this said about every single potential event we've seen over the past few years. Then as the night wears on it begins to dawn on people that things aren't developing as they expected. Then reality hits. Then we start the cycle all over again with the next bit of potential. Been around the weather block far too many times.
  12. Yep noticed that. Can almost smell a bust! Will be infuriating if that is the case.
  13. It has become increasingly clear through the day that middle England is at risk of missing out here altogether. Such is the fickleness of the weather!
  14. You know what, up until this morning it looked a shoe in for storms to track from Bristol up the Welsh border/W Midlands and to my humble abode. Now it looks like a lot of the midlands might be in a dry zone! Could not make this up. Can't buy a storm round here.
  15. Indeed, lightning could be prolific. It will be interesting viewing the radar and reading on the ground reports this evening.
  16. Aye think I can see the top of that out of my bedroom window lol
  17. If some of the charts are correct, we'll be having a lightshow hours before the batch arrives. A lot of it is likely to be elevated. So as soon as night falls, if all goes to plan, there should already be flashing on the southern horizon.
  18. The mornings are certainly very noticeable now if you're up around sunrise. At the solstice it was starting to get light at 3am here. No more!
  19. Everyone is allowed to have their preferences. It annoys me in winter when people take glee in mild crap that we seem to suffer endlessly. However if I was to vent my frustration at said posters I'd probably get banned! Truth is, some people will always find unappealing what you find appealing.
  20. ECM doesn't turn out so bad in all honesty Don't get why we need to see searing uppers from the S when people can enjoy the strong sun and fine weather that set up would bring (more especially further S).
  21. I'd like a storm in summer, that'd be a start. I'll accept heat if it results in a good storm but we don't even see those that often anymore. As I said it's just bland bland and more bland and it has been for years now. I don't think anyone is celebrating that grim fact.
