6c here now, feeling quite balmy.
I thought the next snow event for us was midweek? Just been in the pub yapping about it so it had better be lol

According to Wunderground, it's 0.4ºc here with a Dew Point of -0.1ºc...
Talk about knife-edge stuff!

that low that runs through dorset needs watching like a hawk if anybody is up at that time of night.
if it gets any deeper it will drag in the cold air from the east putting the snow line back into dorset and east somerset, it would also really perk up the precip.
Has anyone else been looking at the radar over the last half an hour...
The snow line is moving back west... It was to the east of Bristol, now it's to the west!

Id only say theres a chance of it maybe lansdown higher ground further east from here but i do have a feeling it wont last here
Well, I'm hoping that if the temps stay lower than forecast, we may just scrape by!

Good news is that further west is reporting snow so hopefully we should see a nice few hours of snow before turning back to rain, i hope
Is there any chance of it not turning back to rain in the Bath/Bristol area?

iv got snow grains here and your only down the hill?
Just been outside and saw about 4 snow grains!... Can't see anything when indoors... Hopefully it will pick up soon!

Well having bitten the bullet and pulled my debit card out of moth riddled purse I can see this front coming in via the radar and I have to say that I am not a big fan of those increasing freezing rain patches.
I knew you wouldn't be able to resist the "snow hunt" DD!...
Nothing much happening here yet... Snow is falling, all around me... But just not ON me!
Temperature is about 0ºc here... Still frosty patches on the grass... Hope the cold air manages to stay nearby.

Does anyone have an accurate temperature for Bristol?...
Wunderground says -3.6ºc, but it must be colder than that surely?...

I'm sure you will be able to find a local online weather station.
Oh yeah... I'd forgotten about Wunderground!... Just had a look and it's currently -4.0ºc just down the road from me!
On that note, I think I better head off to bed... Could be a few late "radar" and "lamp-post watching" nights ahead!

Is there any hope at all for a snow event in the far South West, or should I just give up and wait for next year. It's so frustrating seeing all the action about to happen in the East of the region.
Unfortunately, I'd it looks unlikely for Cornwall (at the moment)... Who knows though... If things kept shifting West...??
The experienced guys in the MOD thread say to keep an eye on the NAE model, as that will be more accurate than looking at the GFS, ECM etc.
Looked good for Bristol and even areas further West than that on tonights run...

I used to love it but then we had last Christmas, that horrid icy snow that lasted for over a week, you couldn't walk out in it, build a snowman or play in it. So what's the point of it? I also had flu whilst it was going on, I was weak, pathetic and out of lemsip, my only option was too risk broken bones and slide my way to the shop for more supplies, a 2 minute walk took me half an hour. OAP's took pity on me.
Yes to snow that is light and fluffy and clears off when it gets boring, NO to snow that turns to ice and outstays it's welcome.
Well, I trust that if we do get some this weekend that you are currently fit and well and will be able to enjoy it!... That's if it sticks around for more than six hours (if at all!)... I just hope we don't end up with icy rain.

Evening all, I've been enjoying this years ups and downs of the winter roller coaster that is the "south-west thread" lol
While you are all street lamp watching on sat, with a nice warm brew or nicer cold one, spare a though for me as I will be in the back of beyond on the mendips, with my friends, having our February camping session.
I'm really hoping for a snow event as cold rain will be a nightmare, ice rain even worse!!
If it gets too bad you'll have to go and find Mullenders house and have a bottle of Katy!

I don't believe that... Was it last winter or the winter before when you were talking about how you could make snow in your bathroom?...

Ruddy Londoners being selfish!!!... From what I understand, the further West this snow event is the better the chances are of the cold weather continuing next week! I hope I've got that right!

18z NAE gives a 40 mile shift west and a snow to rain event for Bristol. Wouldn't be surprised if the patter moves further west within the next 48 hours.
It's looking better and better for us in the SW with each passing run (except for a run or two from the GFS!)
Indeed, schmac, I'd take that at this stage. Just to see something falling from the sky would be a start.

Looks like dew points and 850 temps are a bit on the high side for snow but north of Bristol looks like its in with a shot...
Oooo, so close... Just hope it shifts those "favourable" temps a wee bit further South!...
