Ya okay no probs, good game tonight the rugby. Shame the French won.
I've just been watching Sorority Row with the missus... Not bad...!
Trying to have a gander at the latest run, but my laptop is misbehaving... running like a dog... a three-legged dog... in deep mud... Rubbish!
-
It would be nice we can hope
Yep. 18z will be rolling out soon, so I'm gonna have a quick look at that in a bit, see if it's an upgrade or a downgrade!
-
I think they should change this thread in april (once snow risk is gone) to SOUTH WEST ENGLAND HEATWAVE DISCUSSION. I shall be around still from time to time.
or maybe it should be end of may because it is still possible although unlikely.
That's probably almost as likely to happen as the South West Severe Snow Event Discussion :)
-
I think it's over for us down here, all we are going to see is the rain
Bring on the sunshine
Yep, I think that's probably pretty accurate!
Back to the good ol' British weather this weekend... Wind and rain!
where have I heard that before....
Your right though it would take some impressive fall of snow to settle after that rain although possible on higher ground.
I have not heard from matt of late i wonder if all this rain has dampened his spirits, maybe we should send out the lifeguard to get him.
Yep, most of the regulars have vanished over the last few days!!
Is this it until next winter!!
Even the Model Output Discussion thread had been pretty dead today!!
-
I expect those max temperature predictions for sunday will be early on in the day with temps falling through out the day.
The afternoon looks like it will get colder as the Low drags in a north easterly wind turning some of the rain to snow on the northwest flank of that Low although there isnt much chance of it laying around.
A chilly 2.1c here at the moment.
Shame they don't start off low enough for snow!
Unless the snow is really heavy in the afternoon, it'll never stick...
I have seen snow stick after heavy rain, but it needs to come down thick and fast!
-
evening all , just looked at the weather on met office for cheltenham on sunday and its got us down for heavy snow ???????
Yes, there's also light / heavy snow forecast for around this are (Devizes and Warminster)
Thought we were due heavy rain??? The temps are showing around 6-7°c though!
-
I should be safe over there i think afterall i don't have a wolly coat!
I am slightly concerned about sundays forecast because interview is at 11am. Is the bridge likely to be closed??
Id still love it if i see snow while there though!
I think it's only the South coast that is at risk from the really strong winds...
Mind you, things change (weather-wise!)...
Good luck with the interview!
-
Just had a shower of sleet here
Looks interesting for sunday although i shall be in south wales for an interview which would be sods law!
current temp 3.0c
You might stand more chance of seeing a bit of the "white stuff" in Wales though!
-
Where is everybody has the rain scared everyone away
They're all in the Scottish thread, getting their snow fix!!
-
Sunny here at the moment (was raining (fairly light) 10 minutes ago).
Not sure of the temperature, but it's definately alot warmer than it was yesterday!
-
Hey you! Great day thanks. How was yours?
They will be fine, I will make sure they are well taken care of, give them time off to watch Emmerdale and feed them 3 pot noodles a day. They won't need work visas either as they will only be here for 3 days tops judging by our previous snowy winters.
I am going to bed now before a nasty mod comes in and tells me off.
Thats good to know...!
Three days tops?... This is the South West... We're famous for our long, cold, snowy spells of winter weather
Good night then... I suppose I should do the same!... Why can't work start at a more agreeable time of day, say 10:30
Still finishing at 17:30 though, of course!
Night all... Have fun in the rain tomorrow/Thursday/Friday...
-
No, they will be too busy organising the kiddie's snow elephant rides and feeding the ice dolphins, for minimum wage of course. Got to keep the theme going.
Well of course... As long as they all have valid Work Visas too!...
This "Snow Zoo" is sounding very impressive!... Looking forward to more snow now again!
-
Ummm an igloo, obviously!
Ah, of course...
As long as you're not planning on selling ice-cream to the eskimo's
-
Evening schmac, you got more snow just rain today for me.
Is that it or do you think there is more on the way
No idea!
There is talk of it getting colder again after the weekend, but how cold?...
Even if it does get cold again, it'll probably be dry, knowing the luck of the South West!!!
Might have to go and raid Scotland for some snow
Daisy
With 'snow zoo' not really working out AND with all the rain this week, did think we could start up some girl mud wrestling competitions here in Somerset. Free entry, cider, couple of shrimps on the barbie?
Second thoughts - everyone so depressed about lack of snow on this site that they wouldn't bother to come and watch !!!
(the above is totally and completely unweather related, to which I deeply apologise to the mods, but there are only so many ways to say it rained all day!! Which it did in West Somerset!)
I've changed my mind...
Stuff the snow... Bring on the rain! :o
-
Fraid so. I was going to make squillions of quid as well with entry fees, a restaurant serving only ice cream, a gift shop full of ice sculptures of my animals... I was going to ask Ian to do the official opening... All of my plans, ruined!
Oh well, once we've got this BBQ Summer ( ) out the way, winter will be fast approaching, so you'll have to resurrect the plans again!!
You'll have to get a new shed too, otherwise where will you be serving the ice cream from??
Hi i think it was you that said you lived near lansdown if you do my house faces towards there and saw snow up there from last thursday's event.
Yep, had a fair few snow showers up there today too...
Nothing settled though...
-
You are joking yeah? Gale force winds!!! Yikes! That will be a nightmare as my shed roof has gone rotten and is hanging off and I haven't plucked up the courage to go out there and fix it, too cold! The rain has more than likely written off my lawnmower as it is.
Bored with snow now, it didn't turn up when I wanted it so it can sod off.
I edit every post I write, I really should read back before hitting post.
It might have gone rotten now, but by the weekend it might just be plain gone!
I'm sure I heard somewhere that it's going to get windy before the weekend.
So we've got to wait for "Daisy's Snow Zoo 2010/2011" then???
-
Cheers! Woo Hoooooooooooo!
I so hope they have got it right.
Are you sure about that?...
There is also very heavy rain and possible gale force winds forecast too!!...
And there I was thinking you were a snow fan!!!...
Or are you just fed up putting the "Snow Zoo" plans on hold!!!
-
Stopped again now!!!...
-
Just started snowing again here in Bath (at the top of Lansdown)...
Surprised, as it was light rain/drizzle here 15 minutes ago!...
Spookey!
-
Drizzle here now...
-
Yep, not much happening here either (Bath, at the top of Lansdown)...
A few flakes blowing around in the wind and that's about it...
-
Snowing here now!...
Wind is picking up too!...
-
Yes I have been following this on the model discussion thread. The combination of the colder air to the N moving S at the end of the week combined with this nasty LP developing certainly needs watching. Im still uncertain how far S the colder air will be and im also uncertain how deep this LP will be and what track it will take. However the potential of a 970mb LP encountering the colder air across the UK remains possible and could go bang across some parts!
Cheers TEITS!
I've been following your thoughts (and those of a few others!) on the MOD thread for the past few weeks...
Very interesting reading!
Would be nice if that cold air did make it down this far, but looking pretty unlikely at the moment...
But the models do seem to change their minds every now and again lately!!
-
Yup, that's the broad plan, but snow might be a tad reluctant to depart the Forest of Dean quite so readily in favour of rain. Snow over Exmoor / Quantocks and probably Mendips will be a transient feature this morning / early afternoon. Tomorrow's gig will be rain; ditto rest of the working week (looks truly dire for Thurs/Fri and warnings likely to be issued).
Weekend snow threat is further north based on current ensembles but it's irrelevant: potential for some noteworthy weather anyway into Sunday; the latest UK-GM just received looks very wild; and as the UKMO Ops Centre folks note to us:
"There remains a large spread in deterministic and EPS output regarding intensity, track and timing of major low
moving towards the UK from the S/SW this weekend, largely because this system is yet to form and originates from an
area well south of 'more traditional' breeding grounds for major lows (it originates as a kind of triple point wave ESE of
Florida later today/early tomorrow and tracks towards the Canary Islands before turning North late this week)."
Could be very interesting indeed....
Cheers for the update Ian!
Nothing happening in Bath at the moment... Dry, cold, cloudy, dull...

You'll love Sunday then!... Looks like a pretty wet (and windy) day!
There was talk of maybe snow in the South West next Thursday, but that's a long way off!
