  1. Stopped here for about 40 minutes. Cleared up but looks like it's closing in again. Round 2 maybe. Got to drive to Bristol Hospital this afternoon. Hope we get there OK. Taking dogs just in case we cant get back Bit of an adventure though
  2. Same here. 6-7 inches. It's actualy started to clear slighlty. How do you post photos. Done it before can't seem to do it. It maybe my works laptop.
  3. Up to 4 inches now and still coming down steadily. Still no wind though.
  4. About 2 to 3 inches here. Not as windy as I thought it would be.
  5. Jeez! I thought that was depths in 1982 for a second. That is some serious depths for Wales. I was 3 and a half during the 1982 "event". I think I remember things but maybe just memories from photos. 20ft drift covering our chevette. My Father and a few other men walking to the dairy in Ty-Coch (about 5 mile round trip) to load sledges up with milk. Not many dairys left so better get some long life stuff in.
  6. Well. That is the text that is issued with a red alert. Maybe a heads up of an impending change in the warning. Interesting times. I'm actually getting a bit nervous. God knows why.
  7. Ha Doesn't snow that often there but I remember a few years back staying in the in laws caravan in Llangennith. Woke up to an inch or two of snow. Worse thing was it was the beginning of bloody April. Brass monkeys it was for a few days. Nice and warm in the Kings head though.
  8. Think he's just biding his time for the big forecast tomorrow evening and an even bigger one on Thursday. Very dramatic in true Derek style Very cold tonight. Mislaid my thermometer though after building work so have no idea of the actual temps. Very frustrating
  9. I think he's made some bad calls in the past so is very cautious. I remember seeing a very sheepish Derek after we had 20cm of snow here when none was forecast. Very difficult though. I'm sure all forecasters have made similar mistakes.
  10. Looks fantastic. Wonder why our Derek didn't show anything near as interesting.
  11. Keeps the dream alive. Could be great. I may get a few essentials in just in case. Bit low on beer at the moment. Nicked from Gavin in model thread
  12. Very interesting. Not known for over ramping. Usually quite level headed although obviuosly enjoys the prospect of interesting weather
  13. I walked to the bin and it was raining then turned the garden lights on and there was heavy snow. Must have changed within 2 minutes
  14. Started as rain. Now with big blobs of snow. Getting very heavy.
  15. Spent all my childhood holidays at Amroth Castle caravan park. Long evenings sat outside the New Inn pub. My mother & Father now have a caravan at Wisemans bridge. We often pop up the co-opp in Kilgetty. I hear there's a very good Indian restaurant there too. Stunning place. You're very lucky. Snow or not. Fingers crossed for you this week and the weekend. Lets hope we all of some proper snow.
  16. I think we had our 10 year quota during Dec 2009 & Jan 2010. We just seem to get chilly and damp now. We did have a inch or 2 Dec 2010 but missed out on a big dumping that hit Cardiff, Caerphilly and surrounding areas.
  17. Moderate snow here. started very light about 40 mins ago and gradualy getting heavier. Not sticking though Evening BBC wales news showed it all fizzling out to nothing so not really sure how much we will get. Not expecting much tonight
  18. Fingers crossed for a change but I'm also thinking this will turn into another "chilly" period with nothing much to get excited about. At least it isn't raining continuously. Maybe I'm just wary after all the false dawns
  19. Met warning has gone now for snow in Wales tomorrow. Warning for Monday only includes small area in North East Wales.
  20. Actually getting a little nervous looking at next weeks charts. The wife has to be in Bristol for a “procedure†sometime next week. One of those things that can’t be postponed. Just my luck we’ll have the blizzard of the century which I would love any other time. Fingers crossed that we’ll be safely back over the right side of the bridge to enjoy the fun
  21. Thanks for the stats Jackone. Very interesting. It looks like the 1920's was a very wet decade. It also doesn't go with the theory that warming means more rain although that's a logical assumption. a very wet 1920 was followed by one of the driest years.
  22. So the BBC are reporting this to be the 3rd wettest year on record here in Wales after 2000 & 1954. Without looking at the stats I'm presuming 2000 rainfull was spread throughout the whole year as this year started very dry then 9 months of rain. New year looking to start on a dry note with high pressure set to hang around for up to 2 weeks. I for one will take anything other than wind & rain at the moment.
  23. Exactly! these things happen. Hot summers, Warm winters, wet whatevers etc. It drives me crazy when even Supposedly intelligent weather presenters (BBC News 24) talk drivel about climate change everytime something unusual happens. I'm not saying warming is not happening but it doesn't explain why very warm winters occured hundreds of years ago and the same for wet summers. It happens. We have cycles of these things. I have to say though. This year has been bloody aweful. Just when you think a summer couldn't get worse then 2012 comes along. It truly can't get any worse. Can it?
