  1. Apparently there were a few lightening strikes in Cwmbran on Saturday. Somebody commented on the augus website "Cwmbran seems to have attracted the wrath of the gods lately". We watched the storm come in from the east side of Cwmbran. Too close for comfort for me. I prefer to view at a distance. Looking forward to the longest settled spell for a long time next week and hopefully beyond.
  2. Not exactly weather related but the was a meteorite shower last night and it is thought there was an impact in the Cwmbran area. Reports of a loud bang around midnight. The wife heard it. Did anyone else see or hear anything? Back to the weather. It's looking good for the 1st half of September. It is a very long time since we had over a week of proper settled weather. I have 2nd half of September off so it won't last.
  3. only a bit of wind and rain weekend & next week looking a bit more like summer although not to Antigua standards I think
  4. I know what you mean. Throughout the last 6 summers I've been saying "it can't go on like this, it'll get better soon". But it never has. It seems that summers have gotten progressively worse since 2006. My parents have a caravan near Tenby and are seriously thinking of selling up due to lack of use. I keep telling them that as soon as they sell it we'll have the best summer for years. After all it can't go on like this. There I go again! edit: just read the BBC monthly forecast. It has to be the worse I have ever seen for summer. Bye bye caravan
  5. So it's the start of July. The height of summer. Instead of enjoying long hot evenings in the garden I'm wrapped up in water proofs worried about vitamin D deficiency due to the lack of sunlight. I'm even thinking of lending a sun lamp from friend as I'm sure I'm showing symptoms of SAD usually associated with the depths of winter. It really couldn't get any worse could it.
  6. Emigration might be a little extreme but this summer so far along with the previous 5 are really quite depressing. Hot springs & Autumns just don't do it for me. I know we will have good summers again but 6 summers on the trot is taking the P!
  7. Ye. No knee pads and helmets back then. Twas a dangerous game I think I actually had a budgie. I think it was a poor mans chopper. It used to regularly catapult me over the handle bars Anyway. Back to the weather. Stunning day here. -5c at 08:00. Ice inside window in my utility 1st time since Dec 2010
  8. Racing grifters aye! that takes me back
  9. Whitish covering over 200m in Cwmbran. Slushy rubbish on the grass in my garden. Gets progressively whiter as you look up the mountain. Generally cold and Wet
  10. It does seem that the best snow "events" are not forecast. Maybe we should ignore all forecasts and just wait for a nice surprise.
  11. oh dear, oh dear. Come on then. Lets av it
  12. Not interested after Feb. Soggy cold March sounds proper depressing. Although I don't want a blazing spring if it means another summer wash out again. I'll be happy with dry weather from now on. Warm or cold not really bothered just no rain
  13. Very nice. I might have the same outside my house but I can't see through the mist & drizzle.
  14. Fingers crossed. I'm just a bit battle wary after all the will it won't it scenarios and last minute downgrades. I need to lighten up. A few pints tonight and walking out of the pub into snow would do it.
  15. Ye. Grim and boring. According to some posts on the model thread any chance of cold next week seems to have vanished. Derrick just showed lightening all over wales tomorrow. IT glitch I think
  16. Snow looking like another non event & Wales have another game on a Sunday. It couldn't get any worse.
  17. Oh. How I love the drizzle. Bring on the drizzle! Drizzle like it's never drizzled before! Could I take a drizzle day off tomorrow instead of a snow day?
  18. BBC look to have delayed the onset of snow. keeping rain a lttile longer. Also it looks a lot more patchy than earlier forecasts. I hope this is not a new trend in the wrong direction.
  19. Nasty stuff. I think it was 96 or 97 here in South Wales. It encases everything. I couldn't get into my car for 2 days. It was like somebody poured clear wax all over it. The paths and roads were shocking. It does look stunning though. Everything twinkles.
  20. No too many more. It'll be in Ireland if it keeps going West!! lol
  21. Rain here now. Still a covering of snow. Will all be gone in the morning though. Currently 1.5c
  22. no. not really. We certainly will be looking east over the next week or so. So we need to be looking at battleground events. A nice channel low would be good. After mid month it is suggested that things could swing to a northerly flow. Again, giving us plenty of opportunity for snow.....and danglers??
