  1. Spot on. Shame some people don’t read properly the matrix for the MO warnings. It appears that there was never enough certainty to go full on to a red, with all that would have entailed for local authorities etc. but just enough doubt to be responsible and make people aware of the possibilities. Think they handled it very well, personally. I think some people have an unrealistic view as to the ability of the MO to micro detail when and where risk may occur.
  2. Feels like it’s blowing a gale here in East Sussex already.
  3. Not getting good vibes about tomorrow for our corner. The latest trend seems to be northwards, which is exactly what we don’t want to see. About 10 miles inland from the south coast here, which is well in the Amber zone. I could see this being upgraded to red, if the track becomes more certain later on today, especially as it’s happening during daytime hours here tomorrow when more people are out and about.
  4. Perfectly useable, if not brilliant, summer day down here. Was good enough for a) garden b) beer and c) music so gets an uptick from me.
  5. Hard to recall a more rank day in July than we’ve had here today near the south coast. Grey, rain all day and windy to boot. Not good. Hose pipe ban increasingly feels like a p**s take.
  6. Another cracking morning here in sunny East Sussex in the heart of summer. Still good preparation for my holiday in the Lakes at the end of next week.
  7. Surely we’re all robust enough to not fall to pieces if someone (who we’ll probably never meet) disagrees with one of our posts? Just as well mate!
  8. Absolutely. Those temperatures are an absolute nightmare unless you’re lucky enough to have air conditioning and don’t have: a) an elderly relative. b) a pet. c) a job that exposes you to that heat. How many is us does that apply to?
  9. Glorious out there today, sunny and warm but without the humidity, give me this for the rest of summer and I’ll be happy. I appreciate that for some weather enthusiasts it’s all about chasing extremes but I’ve never understood the desire for 35-40 degree heat. What can you do in those temperatures that you can’t do when it’s like it is today?
  10. It’s afternoons like this that make me look forward to those lovely balmy late afternoon/early evening May and June evenings in the garden, slightly the worse for wear, with some good music in the background. Won’t be long!
  11. Same as really for here. We got lucky (for us) with 7-8 cms in Decembers spell, which stayed intact for virtually a week which hasn’t happened for a long while. As an aside, had an EMAIL first thing this morning from the owners of a cottage we stayed in a couple of weeks ago, 1000 ft above sea level, just south west of Buxton. They’d hit the 40cm mark at 7am!
  12. Worth popping over to the Midlands “have a look at what you could have won” thread for some nice photos.
  13. Yes, hoping to get some photos sent over later from a holiday cottage we recently stayed in, 1000 ft up in the Peak District. They seem to be in the 25-40cms zone, so should be epic for them.
  14. Lightest settling on grass and roofs but pretty poor tbh. Still we did pretty well out of Decembers spell so no complaints. The record breaking March snowfall will have to wait.
  15. Hot off the press from the MAD thread. Everywhere is in the sweet spot and at the same time those places will be the poor sods that miss out completely. Hope that clears things up.
  16. I’m in Eastbourne, right on the seafront, with work at the minute and according to the car it’s only 4 outside. Augurs well for tomorrow, hopefully, if the colder airs not properly pushed through yet.
  17. No, sorry not yet! Just saying when it does start and it’s, in reality, that cr**py snizzle stuff that does nothing.
  18. If you’re short sighted (like me) take your glasses off before looking out the window. It’s amazing, 50p size flakes all the way.
  19. Big upgrade folks on the MO warnings, especially Wed evening/night. Now I’m interested!
  20. Never was very likely for this morning was it? Tonight and tomorrow look more interesting at least.
