  1. Watching the BBC SE weather just before 7pm it struck me how long this is going to last tomorrow down here. Normally these things race through quickly but it still seemed to look pretty nasty well into the late afternoon/early evening. Was going to walk into the office early doors and then figured by the time I leave to come home it will be largely over. Think I’ll stay at home now.
  2. Bit odd those BBC figures. Everywhere else along the south coast, including Fareham and Portsmouth, seems to be in the 70s mph. Is there something unusual about Southampton?
  3. 10 miles in from the coast and not looking forward to tomorrow at all to be honest. Been hoping for downgrades all week and haven’t happened unfortunately. Being the glass half full chap I am, I’m fully expecting the Russian invasion of Ukraine to start just about the same time as the roof of my house is falling apart.
  4. Looking pretty horrific as it stands for our neck of the woods. Hoping this slides ever further south (sorry to our French friends!)
  5. Could be 60-80cms in the sweet spot apparently. Very envious, just imagine the excitement a few hours before you know it’s going to start. None of this will it be rain or snow, will it settle, will it miss us, will it all melt within an hour. Oh well, one day!
  6. Just as an aside, my brother lives just to the sw of Boston and it looks like they’re in for a hell of a snowstorm this weekend, talk of 20+ inches so will try and post some photos if he sends any. May be the closest we get to seeing snow this winter!
  7. Please can you post the MO mid to long ranger in the right forum. Thank you.
  8. A much more comfortable 25 degrees here today in Hailsham. The “sweet spot” for me temperature wise. Warm enough to enjoy but not too much so that any activity becomes uncomfortable, including sleeping! I’d take this temperature as a constant between June and August without hesitation.
  9. Seeing as I live in Hailsham that’s really rather cruel of you my friend. Just missed every single one of them!
  10. IMBY rates as a 6 or 7 for cold and longevity but, at best, a 4 for snow. Pretty much all of our snow, no more than a couple of cms came on Sunday and we were never quite in the right spot for what came after. Just the way it goes. We did however see falling snow for four consecutive days and still have some on the ground, which I don’t think we even managed during the BFTE. It was great though to see some, who’ve had a lean time in recent years, do so well. The most important thing for me is that it’s proved once again that it’s more than possible to get cold and snow in our region. I dread the day ever arriving where it just becomes a thing of the past.
  11. Clear skies and it feels pretty much like game over for this part of East Sussex, just too far west and everything sliding away to our south east or dying out before it gets here. Will be delighted to look a fool and be proven wrong later on though! Been frustrating overall, though given we’re not in the most favoured location and others have got less than us I shouldn’t complain. It’s just been the case that we’ve been on the edge of things throughout and missed the heavier stuff, apart from a brief period during the day on Sunday when the ground was too warm for much to settle. Well done to everyone though who’s hit the jackpot during this spell. On to the next chase. Will there be one more this winter?
  12. When it’s convenient, do you mind posting a ruler measurement for the snow depth. It’s useful to keep a running tally throughout the region.
  13. Been light snow on and off for a couple of hours in Hailsham. Anyone know how it’s looking for later? I’m not sure if this is it for the Kent streamer, the latest BBC SE forecast looked promising into the late afternoon, early evening but the radar seems to suggest it’s starting to slide away to the the south.
  14. Yes, like you, I’m hoping if, and it’s a bit if, things set up well for us it doesn’t happen till late afternoon onwards, as I think anything falling now would struggle to settle and stay.
  15. V light snow just started in Hailsham. Hoping things might align more favourably for us later.
  16. Nothing doing here currently. Still some nice amounts of snow on the ground in sheltered spots. We look potentially OK here for the mid Kent streamer that may happen later, though need a bit more of a northerly element to the easterly.
