  1. I agree, you’d have to think “cold or very cold” in mid December would translate to something better?
  2. Been a cracking few years down here Ed for “day 10” snow. Just need to count it down now, what could go wrong?
  3. I think I spot Ed Stone’s place on that white patch on the east coast.
  4. All seems to have gone t**s up on the latest runs, not just for us either! I must admit I did fear the worst with yesterdays MO update. Whilst I’m feeling in a negative mood you also have to wonder whether, with all the background signals suggesting a “front loaded winter”, this might be our best chance gone? Probably all look different tomorrow though!
  5. Afternoon all. Obviously nowhere near decided yet but not the best MO update for us this afternoon. Looks like they’re going with the idea that the low to the south west makes more progress northwards, giving us southerners plenty of cold rain, yippee! Still, we certainly need the rain down here.
  6. 5 days? Here on the south coast 5 minutes counts as an “event” these days.
  7. Well that’s saved me many wasted hours this winter. I guess we may as well all call it a day and come back in a year or so’s time. What date are you planning on doing the Winter 23/24 forecast?
  8. Jan 87 beats 91 and anything more recently for me in East Sussex. As I recall, our school was shut for nearly a week and the cold was something else. Also had feet high drifts both sides of the A27 between Polegate and Lewes which I’ve never seen since.
  9. Can’t wait for it end to be honest. Feels worse than 4 weeks ago as, though not quite has hot, feels like it’s gone on longer. Really takes it out of you day after day. Thoroughly miserable for our cockapoo as well.
  10. Incredible change about an hour ago here in Hailsham. Wind picked up from nowhere and we must have dropped 6 or 7 degrees in as many minutes. Much more comfortable out there now, though the house will take some time to cool down. At least can have the windows and doors open now.
  11. Snowing here again in Hailsham. Can’t help but think if this had been 3 months ago we’d have had a near sub zero temp day, weak sun, colder ground temps. Could have been a memorable day.
  12. Nice fluffy flakes in Hailsham. Total surprise as had long since written off the prospects for seeing snow falling here this winter.
  13. Out for a walk now things are a little calmer. Interesting place to position your trampoline.
  14. Definitely seems to have peaked here but still what would normally be called very windy conditions. No doubt warranted the red warning in my opinion.
  15. Really rough spell here. Lots of tiles down around us, fences down, a big chunk of concrete on next doors front lawn, no idea where that’s come from.
  16. Really rough out there. Fence panels down, multiple tiles down. Just had to bring my Mum round to ours as her chimney’s part collapsed and her satellite dish is now hanging off the roof.
  17. Picking up here with some pretty strong gusts. Still very overcast so I’m guessing the strongest winds are coming once the low moves away?
  18. Just up the road and, yep, pretty blowy already. Probably not a day for doing the Seven Sisters Walk!
