Back to sleet now and lying snow beginning to thaw, not looking good!
-
It's certainly a weird one out there tonight, there appears to be some very localised heavy snow, yet just a few miles either side it's either rain or sleet.
-
Temp at 1.1c, light wet snow falling but not accumulating on any bare surfaces. I hope this heavy stuff over Wigan heads our way.
-
It looks like being a strange evening/night with snow to rain and back to snow/sleet/rain/snow.
-
Back to moderate snow now, temp 1.0c. Looking at the radar we could get hit by another heavy burst of snow soon, thereafter back to sleet/rain.
-
December and January aren't much better around your parts Chris.I suppose, but I tend to find that February is rubbish for snow around here, as the sun is too strong so snow never lasts that long. Having said that, the sea is coldest at that time of the year of course, which means it doesn't modify temperatures as much. I'm just generally looking forward to spring by then though.
-
Now we have sleet temp up from 0.8c to 1.1c, twas good whilst it lasted. Only another twelve months to go before the next big one
-
Still no snow here albeit light in nature, a good 5cm covering though.
-
Heaviest snow since February 1996, almost whiteout conditions.
-
Blizzard conditions now, huge flakes as well.
-
Snow getting heavier now already a cm or so now.
-
Snow getting heavier now and beginning to blow about with a light covering. Wish this had happened last week, still beggars, choosers and all that.
-
Light/moderate snow, temp down to 1.4c.
-
My weather station costs me over a hundred pound, the temp is right I hope.I dont want to get people's hopes up and i am slighly concerned by members saying their temps are 3c but i really think you should get something decent, you look to be at at least the same Altitude as me and maybe even higher.
-
Temp 3.2c now, we may reach 5.0c before the days out at this rate.
-
Temp now 3.0c, if it carries on rising like this it will end up being an all rain event.
-
Sums up this spell of weather nicely if it does miss us.Later ppn band taking a more NE track - looks like it will miss the region altogether.

Temp 0.0c currently, snow due around 2-3pm. I wish this snow event had happened last week followed by clearing skies and colder weather than we've seen. Still it's mildly better than last year at least I've seen lying snow this year. Regarding hopes of the next cold spell, I wouldn't discount it, but the charts look uncannily like Decembers, we need that piece of PV lobe to disappear sharpish from Greenland. I'm struggling to find many charts showing such a scenario, hopefully by the end of the weekend more and more ensembles will. Until next time enjoy the ride and make the most.

IMBY temperatures have only dropped below freezing twice during this cold spell.I agree, and optimistic like most of this week too!
-
Temp was at 4.7c at it's highest today, currently 3.6c. Tomorrow looks like the last hoorah for cold and snow for quite a while, maybe even the rest of winter, once we see the longwave pattern reset itself to what it was pre-January.
-
No need to as the entire GFS, ECM, GEFS, UKMO and every minor model agrees, off course feel free to post any output that disagrees. Winters over, of course not, is there any cold on the horizon, even more unlikely. Please post some charts and explain. I am a bit sceptical
-
I've seen enough model output to be confident that the outlook is dire for cold In the next two weeks plus. All the hopecasting in the world won't change what is being shown, the fat lady is clearing her throat and I expect her to burst into song very soon.
-
Light wet snow falling here, temp 2.4c.
-
I remain unconvinced of it's overall impact BB, the theory will be tested over the coming month. What's happened to the effects of the Strat Warming - thought it was meant to be at its most potent v soon? Just wondering.
Greenie high seems to be rather elusive

Another borefest here now heavy sleet, snow thawing. IMBY this is a pretty poor winter on par with 98.
