For Sunday evening/night, I'm going with the GFS. There precipitation charts were far nearer the mark than the rest for yesterdays event, so we could be looking at 6-12 hours of snow starting from around 18-00hrs tomorrow.
-
Looking at the models a breakdown of sorts is on the cards by next weekend, I suppose we can't really complain as by then we would have endured two weeks of cold and snow for many, but not all. The PV lobe moving out of Canada is worrying IMO, as there are no guarantees as to where it will set up shop. If I remember rightly the last time this happened was in December and look what happened then. So all in all a cold week, snow for those in the NE/E/SE and maybe this extending into other areas as per GFS run.

The lightest of snow falling, but still covering surfaces that have been cleared. Temp 0.3c
-
Temp here has jumped from -1.7c to 0.1c, hopefully we won't see it continue to rise.
-
Snow still coming down hard and fast, temp -1.6c. At this rate I would expect a good 6 inch covering by the morning.
-
The 64 million dollar question, our chances look quite good, but the usual caveats apply really. Tune in and watch this space.Would what everyone is talking about tomorrow affect the whole NW region or just the southern part?? What do people rate our chances for sunday?
-
Wilpshire, off Old Whalley Road.same here! where abouts in the RV are you mate?
-
Snow really coming down now depth 7cm and drifting over 20cm, fanruddytastic!
-
Light/moderate snow around 5cm covering, temp -1.6c.
-
Wind really blowing the snow around drifts of around 6", hopefully we get that amount of level snow. I think we'll see snow in this area for a few more hours yet before it peters out.
-
Moderate snow now with a temp of -1.2c.
-
There is a band of snow moving in from the SE, but it should be the early hours of Monday before it reaches the Lakes, if at all.Watched snowmaggeddon approach from the SW only to unbelieviably stall at Preston - then round 2 to attack from the SE over Manchester way and break up on the radar as of now.
2mm of snizzle near Wilpshire.
Been interesting to say the least - hope all who experienced it enjoyed what you got.
Off to Langdale on Sunday - nothing too serious an expedition - any idea what the forecast is?

I reckon there's a good chance that area of precipitation below Sunderland will move towards Cumbria, hopefully it will drop South a little IMBY.No snow here today apart from the odd outbreak of dandruff lol it's freezing cold now -0.3c and still windy. We'll see what happens overnight as 12z seem to increase the ppn over Northern England overnight as the showers merge with the front, this process already taking place with some real intense ppn developing now in the east.
-
Snow lighter now still blowing around though temp -1.2c.
-
Clucking bell, this is the heaviest snow I've seen in over two years. Where as this come from.
-
Light snow now, temp -0.4c.
-
Temp now -0.3c....... Same old, same old!

So this was our swan song then, dear god!Problem is allthe models point to milder in the 7-10 day range, Met 15 dayer suggest the transition will be slower but dry from wednesday onwards for our region, there will be another response to the strat warming in feb but i think GP suggested the blocking maybe too war west, (Canada rather than Greenland), Met 30 dayer goes for a chance of a reload but only a chance.
-
Temp now -0.1c overcast, grey and damn right boring.

That's what I'm hoping for, far better if we get heights over Greenland rather than Scandinavia. In fact I never want too see an easterly again, hate them with a passion. After the palaver we went through to get in this current pattern, it would not surprise me the least if we continued to get sliders for quite some time yet. HP could still retrogress to the NW yet also.
-
The breakdown is gathering pace.Im not optimistic now, ECM extended ens now sees the mean for London rising to 5c.
-
We haven't seen lying snow for over two years.snow like this three times, in the past 30 odd years...and yet for you ..its almost every year other other year...
south of the region is fine, still almost blizzard like here with powder snow...temp and dp both have dropped remarkably.
-
Another yawnfest of an event, I've had more cover of a frost. Roll on the Atlantic breakthrough.
