  1. Near to a technical SSW. http://www.instantweathermaps.com/GFS-php/showmap-strat.php?run=2015011800&var=HGT&lev=10mb&hour=384
  2. Yes, belting down now, should have an inch shortly if this keeps up.
  3. Settling on all surfaces. I had exactly the same between 6am and 8am this morning.
  4. It goes in cycles, the 80s was packed with Easterlies and blocking, we will get some stonking winters as get through towards a solar min, around the end of this decade is my guess for another 1947, as long as we can can get this solar min to co-incide with a -QBO and El nino, if you look what happened in the little Ice age, the weather patterns are following all the hallmarks of that.
  5. Yes, i was in the West Mids then, we had loads of small accumulations right throughout that winter but it was the 5th feb slider that i got a really big fall from.
  6. Hope your right, I agree with your comment wrt marginality, I didn't expect to hear the dreaded drip today at 600ft, I thought it was all about getting lucky with the PPN streams and then I would be ok.
  7. Yes, everything needs to fall into place at exactly the right time.
  8. I would just love to see a big easterly, none of all this marginality drip drip drip stuff, as I always caveat, I fully recognise that it has to be a powerhouse Easterly to deliver for large parts of this region, anyway, its turned back to snow now and I have a covering.
  9. We had some snow showers - really sticking on the mountains but right here its not sticking and then DRIP DRIP DRIP DRIP DRIP DRIP. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
  10. mongoose all here, PPN charts still showing heavy later but they showed that this morning so not holding my breath.
  11. Are those charts up to date BA?, they aren't updating on my computer, but it could be my computer because de bilt among other things I have struggled with lately.
  12. Yes, doesn't bode well for later when temps pick up, could well end up as rain.
  13. Light here now as well, looks like that shower only brief one.
  14. I didn't even know I had had a dusting around tea time yesterday, I was busy but looked out the window at 10pm, on the mountains at 1000ft, theres quite a bit more than a dusting.
  15. True but it said 6am heavy snow, 7am heavy snow, so you would expect to at least see one flake at some point during that hour, its not like it was based on a run 24 hours ago either, it was updated at 5.10 am!!!!!
  16. Well the forecast looked good but now the predictive PPN chart on the met office suddenly changed to show it fragmenting and breaking up, that's the first 2 hours of heavy snow that the BBC predicted for me bust, its still got heavy snow for the next 10 hours though LOL, oh well 2 down 10 hours to go - not a single flake!!
  17. Yes, I do laugh at those BBC forecasts sometimes, I would walk up the high street stark naked if that verified, the fact that it does say Heavy snow constantly for 15 hours would suggest feet of snow piling up, I take moderate PPN to mean between 4 and 8mm an hour so even that would give us a foot (at 2-4cm converted snow), unless of course it just happens to be heavily snowing bang on the hour every hour and just relents in between hour marks LOL.
