  1. Yeh that is usually the case. However it seems the West is getting most of the snow judging by the web cams. The dominant pattern at the moment is heavy snow in the west Highlands with lighter snow or none in the East Highlands. Will see what the weekend brings!
  2. Stats for November says it all....PANTS!!!!!!!!!!!! Polmont Falkirk Average temperature = 8.5°C Avg daily max temp :12.8°C Avg daily min temp :5.1°C Growing degrees days :41.6 GDD Total windrun = 2938.9kts Frost days= 2************************************** Snow days = 0
  3. Hopefully Nevis Range and Glencoe will think about opening early. I have a set of skis I have only used once.Desperate to get some powder turns in.Weekend is looking good for snow!
  4. Found melted snow on the back screen of car so must have snowed. Covering on the Ochills nothing on the Pentlands!
  5. 2c here. Dry but beefy showers heading east.Snowing on the Rannoch Moor 1000ft so fingers crossed I get some wet snow!
  6. Yep have a feeling that we could see our first wet snow as early as tonight in Central Scotland. More likely above 200ft.
  7. 8. Aonach Mhor near Ben Nevis peaked at nearly 4c last night. However temps seem to be stable and hopefully dropping. They lost all of their snow last night! latest - 2011-11-29 09:00 1.9 °C - 2011-11-29 08:00 2.4 °C Aonach Mor (1130m) every 6 hours hourly View in Fahrenheit Local Time 06:00 GMT = 06:00 Temperature Weather 2011-11-29 06:00 2.3 °C - 2011-11-29 00:00 2.5 °C - 2011-11-28 18:00 3.9 °C - 2011-11-28 12:00 -0.1 °C
  9. Agreed there could be a midweek spell of wet snow even at low levels. However I have more faith on a snowy Sunday morning and Monday looking at the charts. At last snow lovers there is hope!
  10. When people keep saying it's only October then it's only November! Now it will be it's only December winter will come. Their eternal optimism and denial of the facts is astounding. As far as I am concerned we should expect at least 1 frost day in October,7 in November and one or two snow showers in November. We have had the second mildest November on record. Early December does not look good. So will they be saying it's only January give it time? Just got to face facts it's been pants so far!
  11. 8th December looks interesting! See model precititation type!
  12. Might get something on Sunday although it now looks to dry!
  13. A9 near Inverness-Traffic Scotland http://trafficscotland.org/lev/
  14. Yeh I think we have to look to late December and a change in the weather pattern. Need those brutal northerlies to swing down for a few days. However for the next two weeks it's a case of just taking what we get. If we get a couple of frosts I will accept that.
  15. The way things are going I don't expect any low level snow ,proper snow I mean that lies for a few days anywhere in the next 3 weeks at least. We are on a rollercoaster at present Squally showers, mild, squally showers, mild. The only possibility is that the mountains may build up some snow only above 3000ft. i can't even see us getting a proper penetrating frost out of the current set up.
  16. Yeh my local weather station says 2 frosts in Nov. However I only remember one! Crazy. We usually get at least 2 days of snow in November and that's not going to happen!
  17. 5c icy rain in Edinburgh at work no snow yet!
  18. To be honest he wasn't the only one who believed this winter would be bad like the last two years. It was all based on a pattern that didn't exist other than the last two years. I predict a non descript winter mainly mild!
  19. Agreed very odd stats for my area Central Scotland: 2011- October Avg daily max temp :15.1°C Avg daily min temp :8.0°C Growing degrees days :84.5 GDD Total windrun = 4221.9kts Frost None 2010 -October Avg daily max temp :13.7°C Avg daily min temp :5.8°C Growing degrees days :56.3 GDD Total windrun = 3427.6kts Frost days= 3 November 2011 Avg daily max temp :13.3°C Avg daily min temp :5.1°C Growing degrees days :39.0 GDD Total windrun = 1596.2kts Frost days= 2 November 2010 Avg daily max temp :8.7°C Avg daily min temp :0.5°C Growing degrees days :0.0 GDD Total windrun = 3104.0kts Frost days= 14
  20. Was that snow not October? It was November I said had no snow!http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-15596782
  21. I think winter gales is about the best we can hope for in the short term. No sign of any cold at all. This recent 2-3 months has been the worst Autumn early winter in a long time. No snow not even a drop for the whole of November in Scotland other than a few showers on the high tops. I think people become obsessed with snow because winter is about frost and snow. We can get gales or storms any time of the year.
  22. We had snow in January and March so can't say we have had none. However I am not too hopefull of Snow for December in lowland Scotland. That would be terrible as November has seen 2 frosts and no snow!
