  1. Yep... though I am using Meteociel and Weatheronline and neither have it updated for 18z yet. Is there a better more up to date source ?
  2. This just isn't true. How are you interpreting these charts ? GFS is covering right up into north midlands, HIRLAM/ARPEGE have the *strongest* snow in the south midlands, but still good amounts further north too. NMM / EURO4 still good for whole of midlands.
  3. I'd ignore it... the met office have far more, higher resolution models an up to date data than the GFS, and they're sticking with their more northern track.
  4. Agreed probably just coming in faster than expected, does not mean northern extent will be further north. Anyway when I compare it to EURO4, i'd say it was closer to 50m than 100m...
  5. Not the stuff off the SW of England, but the stuff to the SW of Ireland is.
  6. Rushden looks pretty decent... So long as it doesn't shift another 50m south, should do quite well
  7. Interesting to see MetO still holding out for it quite a bit further north for the heaviest snow than the latest Hirlam, Arpege etc would suggest. They have access to way more data and experts than us, so you'd expect them to be correct !
  8. Hehe. I hate getting up early. But a solid snow event for the Leicester region is so dang rare, it's probably worth it. Love a bit of window and radar watching
  9. Looking good on the 12z I think! I normally like to lie in til 10am on a Sunday, but I think I will be getting up at 6 or 7 tomorrow to watch it start. Anyone else care to join ?
  10. Yes looks great shaky, I think Leicester are in a really great position for once. Can't believe I am saying that... seems so rare.
  11. Perhaps, but I wouldn't be quite so pessimistic Andy. Some of the senior and more respected forecasters in the model threads are saying the general trend is indicating Snow north of M4 and Greater london. They all seem in agreement, as do the MetO, that the snowline will be 30 miles or so south of where the models are showing. I am not surprised, the temperature predictions for Northampton are a max of 1c, most of the day it is freezing or below. I know there is a lot more too it with 850hpa temps and dew points, but ground temps close to freezing do help. I'd say this is certainly less marginal than I am used to, the past few times it's snowed it's been 2 or 3c with -5 or -6 850 temps instead of the preferable -8. Ultra marginal wet affairs so this is actually nicely not too marginal for once. I wonder if one day midlanders will get a nice event where the 2 meter temps are -5c at 0m ASL, the 850 temps are -12c, and there is a bucket load of precipitation. Lots of snow, and zero marginality. One day I hope.
  12. Yes! Sunday/Monday looks like it could be great, but as usual a marginal one, could also end up just being a very cold damp squib.
  13. West mids doing well I see. Lucky for you guys! congrats. Here in Leicester it's just cold and wet, not a flake insight...
  14. I'm confused. The MetO don't even have us down for any precip on E-Mids until 7pm onwards. The light PPN was never predicted to fall around here, so the fact that this light stuff is dying out isn't too surprising - it was never predicted otherwise by the MetO.
  15. 1.7c here and falling. Still dry, feeling very cold out.
  16. Afternoon folks.. back for the first time this year Hows the snow looking for tonight ? had a quick read through the past few pages. Some say it's an east mids event and others a west mids event, so not really sure what to expect.. hope it turns out well for all though, that would be preferable!
  17. Hi Everybody! I hear something about snow ? Checking in for the first (hopefully of many) time for 15/16 winter period. Would like to see some snow later tonight, but it's Leicester so... yeah
  18. Well isn't this the most depressing spell of weather Mild..rainy..cloudy.. I just want to crawl back into bed when I wake up and see that out the window.
  19. It is atleast nice to wake up in the morning to just-about-daylight (7am) and the sun is rising as I head out in the car to work. And nice and sunny on the way home too. Definitely sucks arriving + leaving in the dark.
  20. Nice cold sunny day here. Boring, but nice. Better than 8c + drizzle.
  21. So you keep saying. It's not like the East Midlands is some super snow wonderland with several feet of snow on the ground. I had a few mm the other night and a few cm last week. Hardly anything to be jealous of. The West has done very well compared to the East on several occasions in the past. We ALL want a good snow event, lets not turn it into some stupid "the west deserves it more than the east" or vice versa crap.
  22. Well it all started good in Leicester but just a dusting overall. Still pretty happy though
  23. I highly doubt it It's pretty rural here. I've certainly never seen a gritting lorry or anything.
