  1. The bigger the flakes become, the wetter the snow and the more marginal the situation becomes.
  2. I'm in Hull but might head towards Leeds or Sheffield for the night, not sure if that's a good idea.
  3. Not to be pedantic but an anti-cyclone is high pressure.
  4. What could make it pep up? Basically an injection of moisture skating down the Irish Sea will interact with the slow moving front over Central England. You can see this happen now on the radar just west of Wales.
  5. Well it's already snowing and settling to places much below that.
  6. And? The front is 100 miles away still.
  7. Evidence of the band pepping up across Northern Ireland, probably an injection of moisture from the front skating down through Ireland.
  8. Could be quite a bit of snow for the Humber on this run, with about 6-7cm. Most snow over the pennines of course. Increased risk of a Humber streamer affecting East Riding and Northern Lincolnshire once the easterly winds kick in with -7C 850's and warm(ish) SST's.
  9. I mean this in jest, but you lot are so desperate for snow, it's evident on the posts above Glad I live up north during term-time, just had a couple of cm of snow last night.
  10. Snow accumulations here in Hull, unexpected!! :O
  11. Snow here in Hull, first I've seen since March 2013
  12. Hope it can get to Hull, always a bit tricky here because we are so low, but dew points around the city are at or below freezing.
  13. In Hull, not expecting any snow here, more in the way of sleet. Height above sea level here is about 4 metres
  14. Well it's the model output discussion and that starts at T0. Low digging in further south on the 12z on Tuesday. 06z 12z
  15. Knew that easterly bias would prevail. Hopefully GFS sticks with this sort of pattern...or better!
  16. An eastward shift of the northerly, but that should allow the low to undercut better. We'll see.
  17. Nice extra holiday for them then (said in jest)
  18. Yeah I mean that just wouldn't come off, but if it did, probably 80-100mph wind gusts across a large swathe of the central belt of England and Wales there.
  19. -3.1C here at the moment in the Hertfordshire 'frost hollow'
  20. When is this never-ending nonsense about not seeing cold for the entirety of Winter ever going to end? Every year it's the same, even through 2012-13. The models show raging westerlies, and yet we must assume that's what we will see for the rest of the season? It's either a perpetual hype of reverse psychology or people really do not have an actual clue what they are talking about. Just observe what the models are CURRENTLY showing, this is the model OUTPUT discussion, not look into your crystal ball discussion.
  21. -2.2C here at the moment, dropping like a stone.
