  1. Just could this be a better run from the GFS? Low negatively tilted and further south compared to the 06z. Low over Iceland slightly less amplified and backing West instead of slamming into the block.
  2. Eyes down for the 12z's, expect some massive upgrades with regards to snow events and cold weather, just you watch! We can all be optimistic right?
  3. It can happen, but the problem is it's so rare to see it happen. Last March was the snowiest month I ever had.
  4. I was just reading through the 'Winter Discussion 2013/2014" thread from back in October & November. Peoples hopes were so high in October, no one knew however that it would be one of the most mildest & wettest Winters on record.
  5. All seasons are based on where we are around the sun, not the kind of weather we are likely to see. So JennyJane is correct ins saying that!
  6. Yes, my latest snowfall last year was 22nd March and we got 6 inches!
  7. I'm getting concerned for you guys, precipitation was meant to be already touching the Oxford area by 3am. I think it will be at least 7-8am until you guys see the first hints of that band in London, in which case sunrise accompanied with slightly warmer dew points could turn it back to sleet/rain. There seems to be a dry line just to the east of Wales, blocking the progress of that precipitation.
  8. Looks as though that shower West of London won't actually make it to London, but the main trough looks a thing of beauty, good luck suvverners, I'll cry myself to sleep in Hull.
  9. I don't care what anyone says! 18z screams snow potential (albeit marginal) through the entirety of the hi-res! For those who love cold and snow, don't give up, it's an incredibly fickle situation and therefore as stated numerous times, anything can and will happen!
  10. I'm currently observing the more organised occluded front to the West of that trough over Ireland.
  11. 4.0C here in Hull, really miss home, not felt this way since I came here in September. The weather is constantly miserable here and it has a detrimental effect on your mood, maybe I should have realised the east coast is generally dyer during the Autumn/Winter.
  12. 5.9C here in Hull, dropped from 7.4C about 2 hour ago. The colder air is coming folks!
  13. Looking at the charts available, I suspect the northern home counties, including Beds and Cambs have the best chance.
  14. This really highlights the stark differences at the moment, it is honestly all to play for still! 06z - 3rd February. 12z - 3rd February The differences are incredible, so I think people need not be concerned at all.
  15. The massive differences between the GFS & UKMO really highlights the uncertainty. I would have been more concerned if they were identical, but as they aren't and show completely different outcomes, I wouldn't be too worried at the moment. The fact that there is huge variance between them two is quite astonishing at just 6 days away. Underestimating the block?
  16. Much better 12z coming up, that little low in the Atlantic looks like a slider, slight negative tilt on its forward flank!!! Compared to...
  17. The clouds have this slightly orange/yellow tint to them which would indicate that snow is falling in the upper levels of our atmosphere. Much greyer at the bases which is obviously rain.
  18. Hi folks, I just thought I'd share possibly the most dramatic picture from yesterday's storm which was posted to me by one of my followers on my weather page. "Hi Just thought I would share with you the devastation that the squall line left behind yesterday in East Sussex. This is a picture of what is left of my Dads car after a freak gust of wind brought down a tree on his motor, miraculously my Dad was able to scrabble out of the wreckage with just cuts and bruises but it could have been a whole different story." https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=575168075909076&set=a.221519961273891.50855.221503444608876&type=1&theater
  19. Ehum.http://metro.co.uk/2014/01/26/engineers-diverted-to-david-camerons-house-to-fix-his-tv-while-flood-victims-were-without-power-4277588/?ITO=facebook
  20. It's kind of off topic but cutting the EA budget will/has had a detrimental effect on the safety of those in need of flood control. I think it's appalling that there have been cuts in all public services such as Police, Fireman, NHS & the Environment Agency. We then get some snotty nosed millionaires telling us that the country is going down the rotter and it needs to be done. Hmmm....There should never be a price on safety, and as soon as the Conservatives are out of power, the better!
  21. Over the last 3 days we have seen some stunning UKMO output, today it has been rather poor. We all know you prefer mild weather, but one slightly poor UKMO run doesn't mean that the Atlantic will win. Remember it's 120 hours away in a very volatile situation?
